That's better. But still about 20% low. You are brokering loads out to independents for less than i get after my carrier gets 25%

    noluck Thanks this.

If they tell you they drove 850 miles in14 hours. You need to note that and never load them again. It's not just about liability( which you and your customer will share if something goes south) it's also about building a quality and professional carrier base. That will in turn give you leverage to find a quality and high paying shipper base. So in short it's good business.

That works out to mid to low $1.XX / mile to deadhead out of southern Florida or get a really bad paying load back to good freight. Get closer to $4/mile and then it becomes far more affordable.

    cnsper and noluck Thank this.

Quality professional carriers won't pull for his rates. To be fair its not really his fault that his customers deal in junk bulk commodities, therefore their only concern for trucking is getting it moved at the absolute lowest price.

Ruthless, noluck and Lepton1 Thank this.

    That does beg the question:

Do any of his customers require a minimum CSA score to haul their freight? Many of our customers require minimum CSA scores. CSA gets too bad and we lose a good account.

    noluck Thanks this.

    that is true

had a driver call me and said his current broker gives in 2400 for this load i told him that broker is no more and i have these lanes.

He went off on me for under cutting his rate when in reality his customer sent us a email and we gave a price and we agreed on it.

As a broker if I am not competitve there are 14000 brokers registered in the US.
