I've had some trailers also that I could unload quite quick with a leaky lid. Allowed me to "cheat" a little persay. Would probably only help in a low backpressure situation but hauling cement it may not hurt you as much as you think.

 

it worked fine (until the blower took a big dump), but you see all these warnings about "not blowing dust" and all that.

it was super obvious under the lights, in the day time, can't really tell.

Matters when using a pansy on site blower (some I've noticed are way bigger than others). took forever to build any pressure.

but whatever, i wrote it up

So, had to call (we'll call you by 2pm every friday night for saturday and monday's) at 8am this morning for monday's dispatch. I get the whole thing (which again leaves me FN empty 2 to 3 hours from my domicile which I'm sure I don't get paid for) and I say "hey, i've been here 3 friday's, no paycheck"

oh, you probalby have a live check as it takes 3 weeks to get direct deposit going. (seriously? in what century?). Let me go look. Yeah, you have a check sitting here in an envelope.

I DON'T DOMICILE THERE. (although i was there twice yesterday and no one told me this). Put a stamp on it and put it in the mail.

Well, your 2nd pickup on monday is right across the highway, you could just stop by.

wait wait wait. You won't pay $1.55 (one dollar, fifty five cents) in tolls instead taking me 5 miles out of the way and you won't pay .44c in stamps but I can drive 10 minutes, 3 lights and 2 miles one way in an 80,000lb truck to pick up an envelope?

Stepping over dollars to pick up dimes.

 

You seriously need to find a better carrier. These people have their heads way up their butts.

 

I'm in line to load my baking soda now. Then get the real fun of crossing back to Denver loaded.

 

This is one messed up company, but you guys are going to get some great stories.

My truck blower has been busted since friday afternoon. So i've been having to use (and only be dispatched to) places that have on site blowers. The truck blower of course hooks up in the front, but the on site blower of course hooks up in the back.

The best part of the whole day was I had to go to the denver yard at 6:30am this morning to get a preloaded trailer. (despite being the ONLY company guy who doesn't base out of that yard). I get it, i get to the site, i can't get it to build pressure. I switch hoses, I even hold the hot air hose in my hand while running the blower. (on site blower, my truck blower is still broken). WTH? The hose has air coming out of it. no air at all in the tank/trailer. I look closer. Someone has installed the check valve facing the wrong way. It can't let air in. And someone has known about it for a while because the cap on the rear was wire tied on. (cuz of course running the truck blower it would shoot that sucker off at 100mph).

2.5 hours later I"m fixed. and of course had to take the trailer back, because a. it sucked and b. IT'S DANGEROUS. Oh, but safety first.

 

I survived the Rockies. Getting ready to unload now. Looks like about a 3.5 hour push. Here's to being up all night unloading lol

 

One way to look at it is that you're getting experience...lots of experience. You're learning how to rig and repair, how to think outside the box to accomplish your goals. That's a worthwhile education.
You're getting paid to go to school, kind of.
It's a huge PITA for sure but hang in there for awhile and then take all that experience to another carrier. Hopefully it will be one with better organization and much better equipment.
