I wanted to ask about a truck I'm looking to buy. The truck has 330k miles and 25k hours. The truck itself is spotless inside and out. It having 25k hours is like having 800k+ miles ? The truck also has a PID 100 code, I did a look up on it and says low oil pressure. Me not being diesel mechanically inclined all that well does the motor need to completely come apart to change oil pump ? I've attached the JPro report of the truck. As I said the truck is extremely clean in and out with new rubber all the way around and everything else works I just don't know if this would be a good buy at 45k as my starter truck.

25k hours is rebuild territory for an engine. I would count on it needing an overhaul soon.
Samot Thanks this. -

inframes are less than full out, but 10 to 25 grand probably is a fair guess to start.
I lost a camshaft in a 99 Mack R series, that was 6 grand alone. (and that was 6 years ago) Had them test the rods and mains but they were still good. -
If you can figure in the cost of an overhaul, and have the seller's price reflect it, and you have it in your budget I wouldn't hesitate. Mack makes one hell of a tough truck. I spent most of my first summer in a 98 Mack dump truck, and about all it got maintenance wise was it's oil changes. It went to work everyday and made it's owner money and me a paycheck. Actually one of the trucks that I have driven in the past that I actually miss.
