I didn't say you called anyone names...this was an example.
A cop or a DOT Inspector is a person who doing their job just like you are doing yours. They deserve respect as much as you or anyone else.
That being said, if they are a decent person, they might see as in my example of the broken tail-light, that possibly a rock on the highway might have damaged it and just pulled you over to tell you about it.
If you or anyone else gets out of their rig ready for an argument because of a preconceived notion that all DOT are "Out to get us"....well you'll reap what you sow.

    you presume to know me

i greet everyone with a smile and with respect, i try not to disrespect anyone, ever, because if you dish it out, it comes back to you tenfold

if a cop pulls me over, i sit and wait till he comes to the truck and answer his questions, politely

i do not bend over backwards to kiss his butt because he has a gun and a badge, i have quite a history of NOT doing that, sometimes it has gotten me in trouble, but at the end of the day, i would rather take a hundred tickets standing up than avoiding any bending over

brick what you said was truth

it is their domain, they can write tickets all day long, i have gotten tickets that were made up because "you have a problem with authority"

i went to the judge and showed him how the cop was lying and he didnt care, and found me guilty

    o well

such is life, it aint always fair, as a matter of fact, it is rarely fair, justice will be on the day of judgment, NOT in this life

but that being said, as i told ronmars, i would rather pay a hundred tickets standing than avoid one bending over

What part of respect for a man/woman doing their job do you not see?

Every ticket I got, I deserved. I have yet to get pulled over for my appearances.

btw, when I started driving back in the "dark ages" I had shoulder length hair, wore dark sunglasses and smoked doobies while driving my pick-up.
I never got pulled over for my "appearances' but rather for my arrogance or my stupidity.

Before paying a "hundred tickets" at todays prices one might consider getting his tounge split so he could hit both sides with one lick....
Good advice: When accosted by law enforcement; yessir you head off, and hope for the best.

Oh for heaven's sakes, nobody expects you kiss his fanny. Just treat him the way YOU would like to be treated. Is that so hard to understand?

Some of these DOT folks have an attitude. Some don't. Sometimes they are having a bad day, and even though they should not, they take it out on whoever is handy. It is not professional at all, but there it is.

For the most part, they are just people who are trying to do their jobs. Just like we are.

    yes it is

because i could never take a job where i harass people and punish them based upon my feelings

i had many opportunities to be a cop, but saw it as a tool of oppression and decided against it

and as all of us can attest to, these guys can get carrried away and they have the legal system supporting them, in most cases

We all know how bad Ohio is for truckers also correct I got nailed there one time for speeding I got clocked doing 59 in their 55 the way he knew I was speeding I was passing SWIFT this was when they were still at 57. I was 1/2 mile away from a rest area so I pulled into it instead of on the side of the road and he followed me into there. I yes sired and no sirred him all the way thru and guess what I got out of it with a WARNING called I treated him with respect and he did the same for me.
