Not sure about reliability differences, but paccar software is super expensive.
-
Dude...MX13 is the same as D13 Volvo....
-
Mx13, everything on them is expensive. Uses cummins dpf system. ISX15 or X15 (new 2017 engine) are though cheaper. Simple maintenace. Can get some decent mpg, depends how it was specd.
-
No it's not. Not even close. MX is based on the Cummins build.
Your question of Cummins or MX? Neither. Why do you think there are so many so cheap. Get a Volvo D13 and you will live happily ever after.SoCal Trucker Thanks this. -
Thats a 1st, Ive been told that the MX is made by Cummins,
From what I understand the 2013 ISX15 is supposed to be much more reliable in regards to the regen sys.
KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this. -
I had a BRAND new 2009 Volvo D13 with the DPF system on it and that thing was in the shop at least 1-2X a month on average for issues with injectors, regen, Thank God it was under warranty at the time and I was running as company driver but the down time was haarrable.
However, ive heard the pre emissions D16 is a Beast!Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
That's what many drivers I've talked to have said as well. But they still have problems with cams & oil pumps. I was just talking to a guy with a newer 389 his ISX15 blew up at 300K. He said Cummins footed most of the bill. Truck was still down almost 3 weeks.
This has been heavily debated, passionately over and over again here, I think anyone that would get one is off their rocker, especially for a first truck. -
Im in California so im stuck in a way, I can buy an older pre emissions truck and dodge Carb and risk getting fined 1500-10,000.00 or buy an emission-ed truck and risk the regen system putting me in the shop and maybe out of business. Hence the title of this post, the lesser of two evils i guess.
And why I am going o/O ? just livin the dream, something ive always wanted to do. I would rather try and fail or succeed and say that I did it, than to say " Man I shouldve at least tried"Simplespeed and fargonaz Thank this. -
I stand corrected. Thank you.
