Hi new guy here I start may 1. I asked in another thread but thought I would try here. If I already have a cpap machine do the tractors have inverters to plug it into? And I've been a city driver for over 20 years so this otr stuff is new so what do you guys do to keep food cold when you slip seat 2 or 3 times a week.
    Thanks

from what i have read in the other post. if wm knows you got a cpap. then they will make sure you have the correct inverter or I heard folks talk about having a 12 volt power cord. as far as slip seating. pack what you want to. its you that will have to take it all out each time. and that my friend sucks. so pack very light if you don't want a headache

The tractors have built in inverters, but they will only run for 2 hours. Just purchase a DC power cord for your CPAP and plug it in near where you sleep. This is what I do and have no problems. The CPAP uses little power as it is, 60-100W depending on your unit.

You can find what you need at www.cpap.com

As I said in the other thread, I prefer using an Engel refrigerator/freezer to keep food cold. Many of the newer trucks have refrigerators built in, yet I still prefer my Engel 40 quart. They cost more, but are much more reliable and built rugged for use on the truck. They also use less power than the Coleman/Igloo thermoelectric coolers too (0.7-2.7 amps versus 4.0 amps).

This is the model I have been using in the truck for several years.

I found with CPAP you can just get the 12v but depending on the truck setup and if you run humidifier the truck low voltage protection can cut the power on you. They also make rechargable battery backup for CPAP. You can also get cheap inverter.

Some trucks have apu so 12v plug is all you need. Some have nothing, so if you don't run humidifier then 12v is still ok. My truck has automatic engine start and stop so I needed the rechargeable backup battery to keep CPAP running every time engine starts

Walmart trucks all have an APU, so only need a DC plug for the CPAP.

At our D.C., trucks have 2 inverters - the big one that stays on 2 hrs and a smaller one to run CPAP. The smaller one runs all the time. No time limit.

Are you referring to the smaller inverters that plug into the cigarette lighter plugs? I know the shop has told me in the past they can give them to a driver. I just prefer to use an OEM DC plug instead since there are many outlets in the truck. I also have an AC plug in my CPAP case should I need to ever sleep away from the truck. I also have a backup power source for all of my electronics should I have no power available in the truck for several days. So far I have yet to need the backup power, but still have just in case. :)

I've been using the generic Walmart yeti clone cooler myself. Pack it with ice night before I leave home, top off at DC before I leave out for week. Lasts me 5 days. I cook my meals store in Mason jars, then microwave when needed. [IMG]

These are smaller but they are hard wired into the truck just like the bigger ones. Mounted just above it.

I second the Mason jar method. Love bringing my wife's home cooking with me.
