Got my curiosity going now. Hadn't heard of this type of system. Interesting.

    HI,

You need to mount the outside unit to the cap
or you need to add some rubber lines ...
THe copper pipes will brake if the unit is mounted to the frame about the movement

you are correct. the condenser must be mounted on rear wall of sleeper. I have checked the rear wall and I guess I will need to make brackets. Just waiting to get the unit. I have not seen rubber hoses for mini split units. are they exist? I would like to mount it on frame instead of wall. that would be easier.

IMG_1093.JPG IMG_1155.JPG IMG_1792.PNG Make sure you get a double hose one if you get one. No outside unit. Self contained. 2 holes in the sleeper floor.

    Terry270 Thanks this.

To be sure, you'd have to find the specs and see how many watts it pulls. More than likely, you will have to run the suitcase gen on full power (not eco) mode. On eco mode, the throttle doesn't respond fast enough to the starting draw when the a/c compressor kicks on, and trips the breaker.

Some have reported a start capacitor can help with that. I rigged up a similar system on my son's truck. The start capacitor did help alot, but still could not run it on eco mode. It ended up not getting used enough and I got a used diesel apu instead. There are many other threads on here where people are using the 2000W Honda with a portable a/c regularly.

Dont they make these that are completely self contained or do they all require hoses?

They have the models with no hoses and a tank you have to empty. Of course they will not perform as well

My 1100 watt heater seems to draw my generator down more than the air conditioner dose. I have a 3500 watt generator though. I think it would be sketchy with a smaller 2000 watt generator. I also have other loads on my gen though like a battery charger and whatnot too. My microwave takes everything my generator has to run right if I turn everything else off while running it and it is 1100 watts also. My guess would be 850 watts while running and 1500 during startup.
