Drove a 2016 T680 last week. It had factory antennas and coax. The radio was an old Connex 3300. I have no idea who tuned it and by the look and feel of the knobs, I'd say it has been a long time since anybody has done anything to it. All that said, It had AWESOME ears! I haven't had any truck with factory junk hear like that one did! It was as good as my 7' SkipShooter setup.

I knew the KWs were better than the Cascadias, but I didn't know this was possible with the factory junk! I've driven several of the 2016, 2017 KWs, none of them were as good as this particular truck. I was surprised!

The drivers in our fleet that are driving them are more than sarisfied with stock cb setup, I talked to one driver about 8 miles away with no problem, and I have checked swr for a couple of drivers and it was around 1.2.

If you keep that truck I'll build you an antenna.

I'm planning on retiring the end of October. These trucks have dual antennas. I don't know how the coax is configured i.e. if one is CB and the other AM/FM/WX or if they work co-phase.

The ones I've checked have all been good too, but none of them had ears like this one.

Was just informed by my company that I will be moving into a new 2017 KW shortly so I guess I will find out first hand how the stock antenna system works. Mike, how was the 3300 mounted? Been told the radio holder will only accomadate 29 size radios.

Don't know about the Connex, but the Stryker 655 is the same size as the 29, and the 447HPC2 is even smaller than the 25, so there are good high-power options available if you want to go that route and space is an issue.

If it has the fold-down cubbyhole, it is really easy to take a strip of sheetmetal and wrap it around the cubbyhole with a strip hanging down on either side of the cubby allowing you to mount any size radio. The whole fold-down cubby drops out as a solid unit when the screws are removed.

Thanks for the reply CW, I was mainly asking because I have a Galaxy 99v2 I would like to use if I could mount it without having to modify the radio tray, if all it will accomadate is a 29 size radio I have 3 of those and BC 980, if I did choose to use a dual final compact radio it would be between the Stryker 447hpc or the new line of compact Galaxys.
