I pay for miles and hours. Hours include detention (including sitting at customs), loading, unloading, breakdown, as well as doing minor maintenance such as lights, mudflaps, airing tires, etc.

Oddly enough I once got paid over 300$ by CR England for unloading.... They just give drivers the option to unload it them selves and will pay the driver whatever the lumper fee would of been... Of course I slipper a forklift operator 20 bucks to pull them off trailer then me and student broke it down.... England wouldn't pay the student half so I just gave it to him in cashdiesel drinker, Admin and Dharok Thank this.

It would be better to claim the perdiem yourself each tax year. If you were out say 300 service days (Meaning more than 100 miles from home and have logs to prove it) it was worth almost 14 Grand to apply against taxes of 65K for the year in 2001 for us.
In my experience sleeper does not pay, unloading does not pay and anything that is not mileage zip code to zip code is not paid. Unless you have receipts (Prepass etc takes care of that now) for the tolls and whatever else you coughed up. Times have changed.
Some states do not charge taxes so it will be a higher net over another who lives in a tax state.Admin Thanks this. -
Adding the numbers up is not the problem. At some level even a truck driver should have that skill.
A calculator that checks the honesty of the company, recruiter, and dispatcher that promised the pay is what is really needed. -
Actually I think what is really needed, is drivers who actually look at their pay, compare what the check stub says, vs what they turned in and should have been paid. I'm absolutely convinced that during my time with Knight, years ago, if I hadn't been right on top of payroll, I'd have lost thousands of bucks.
