The software in this forum isn't even capable of letting me upload photos half the time. I don't think computers are gonna be up to the task anytime soon.
Yes planes are mostly computer controlled but in aviation, they operate with margins of thousands of feet, not 2 feet. There's also not 20,000 planes flying in an area of 100 square miles either.
Seems to me trains would be the easiest to automate. No steering or defensive action needs to be worked out. Just throttle and brakes. They haven't managed that so I have a hard time believing automated cars are gonna be here in 5 years.....

The real question is how long until a pissed off, obsolete driver starts putting rounds through engine blocks with a Barrett 50 cal as they roll onto the interstate at 20 minute intervals?

On the LTL side, these self driving trucks MAY be able to replace the linehaul drivers. They're NOT replacing the peddle drivers.
