    1. well like the titles states I'm new about to get my cdl I see that hot shot company's in my area pay 20 - 25% of the load, my questions is who pays for your hotel since you can't legally due to DOT stay in your truck, would it be your employer or is it your self & what other expenses do you need to cover as a driver & what will the company cover EX: food,gas etc ....

    2. how much does a hotshot driver make per month ? (Tell me if you took anything out of thier)

    Thank you

    You can legally stay in your truck, just log off duty NOT sleeper. If you do get a hotel room though, that question could be better answered by the company you're considering.

    Often they will ask for receipts if you're over the road hotshot. During summer you can sleep outside legally lol. DOT is ridiculous when it comes to that with the pickup truck guys

    Not saying they this doesn't happen but it's not common. I've been inspected more times than I can count and have never been asked for motel receipts.

    As chasingthesky said as long as you log "off duty" there's nothing they can say.

    Must have a DOT approved sleeper or Lodging receipt. Its the law. You may or may not be questioned at a stop

    Bullsh**. This has been covered many times.

    Fmcsa reg 395.2

    Definitions

    On-duty time shall include:
    (4) All time in or on a commercial motor vehicle, other than:

    (i) Time spent resting in or on a parked vehicle, except as otherwise provided in §397.5 of this subchapter;

    Now you show me where this law is about lodging receipts.

    So much bad info is passed on here by people that don't know about running in a pickup. Chasingthesky is right, you can sleep in your truck legally if you want as long as you log it off duty. I've been doing it for five years. Never been asked for a motel receipt.

    Sleeping in your truck may not be the most comfortable place to rest for 10 hours but it is cheaper. I wouldn't recommend doing it at a public rest area here in NC the State Troopers patrol heavy in there and it says no sleeping in vehicles. Not sure about where the truck parking is but on the off chance they run in there and see a pickup they might give ya some flack. Staying in hotels is nice though clean bed showers free breakfast YAY !!! but it can be costly if you don't have a rewards card or other discounts like AAA or OOIDA and others. Just my two cents. It is after all a tax write off and if ya stay a lot rooms can be super cheap. I paid about $160 for two nights in Shelbyville last week at an Choice Hotel for the truck show because of rewards and memberships.
