I wouldn't work there, but that's my opinion. Teams do ok though, but I wouldn't go there as a solo driver.

Allentown is around an hour away, Harrisburg is maybe an hour and a half.

    Check these:
Sygma Network - food service, driver unload, home several times a week.
Lily Transportation Corp-Harrisburg, PA $62,000 a year - sometimes hires new cdl grads.
    NFI Industries - has local/regional/OTR

Reinhart Foodservice - Reinhart will hire and train individuals with less than one year of experience and enter them into our Associate Driver training program. Driver Associates will perform driver duties that will allow them to gain the necessary experience to qualify for a Professional Driver position with Reinhart Foodservice after successfully completing the program.

Schneider - Georgia Pacific account (don't apply for Dollar General Account-backbreaking driver unload.) $6000.00 cdl school tuition reimbursement.
Schneider - Aurora Parts account. $5000.00 sign-on bonus for inexperienced drivers. Must live within 100 miles of Carlisle. $6000.00 cdl school tuition reimbursement. Probably make more money on this account than the Georgia Pacific account due to mulitple stops. Get paid for each stop.

Veriha Trucking - dry van & home weekends.
Wadhams Enterprises - local & regional
Calex Logistics - refrigerated division does lots of California turns. Headquartered in PA.
Abilene Motor Express - dry van, Northeast regional or OTR.
    Tyson Foods

I don't know why I even want to cross swords with Chinaman regarding reefers and unloading. Maybe times have changed and hell hath frozen over (Pun intended...) to allow no touch meats, produce etc. I just don't know any different with reefer work with one specific exception and that is McKesson for Medicine products in very specialized hauling. I don't know if McKesson maintains any facilities in the east or NE similar to what they do here in Memphis for that work.

Yes, times have changed. Majority of reefer companies don't want the driver unloading or loading.

I was a DM Bowman man, once flatbedding out of Frederick and Van Regional South out of Williamsport. They are exacting when it comes to how much you can idle. But you are home every week. Ive been away from them so long that I expect certain improvements that may have been made for them by now.

Probably ok for some drivers; not for me though. I like that long haul coast to coast running.

Thanks for all the input, will definitely be spending today researching these companies.

My pop did a few years with NFI, after his company at the time (P&P) was bought out by them. That was moreless the start of the downhill slope of his trucking career - wasn't a huge fan of NFI, but he will to today say that P&P was the best company he ever worked for (Around 7 years maybe before the buyout), so I can't quite hold that as the highest factor among all things. He argues he hasn't made the same money since (he's been a local driver for years now, mostly NY and North Jersey work) Still, certainly not the worst company he's worked for or that I've heard of.

Coming out of a retail background, I'm all too familiar with the way these discount-store delivery drivers bust tail. My last job was with a Third Party Merchandising company called Driveline Merchandising - which holds the exclusive merchandising rights in Dollar Generals. US Xpress does most of the deliveries around here, but I've heard that its a contested contract around the country. DG is all on rolltainers and your constantly at odds with staff and management who are stretched far too thin in payroll, causing constant irritability that often gets taken out on the drivers. Prior to getting into Third Party Merchandising, I worked in a run-down (like most) Family Dollar where the drivers didn't have to drop rolltainers, but they were using conveyor belt rollers, unloading everything manually, relying on the 1 or 2 staff to take each piece off and try to (unsuccessfully) keep up.

But, enough of my rambling. Thanks for all the suggestions.

When I was with a reefer outfit we sometimes picked up slack for other companies doing the Dollar General accounts and I hated it. Same old crap from store managers, "What's taking you so long to back in; the other drivers don't have any problem." Of course you know they're lying. I didn't do but a few of them though and told the dispatcher to give those loads to the rookies.
