I just started driving a 2013 Pete 386 ,I could not figure out why all my mileage entries were off, today I wrote down the odometer shut the truck off took a hour nap and found the truck had traveled another 7 miles when I had been sleeping. The trip I took yesterday was off by more then 200 miles. The trip meter is correct but the odometer since I bought it is about 1200 miles off in two weeks. I have never heard of this, cant wait to explain it to the mechanic.
WTH.! odometer is running when the truck is off.

Probably a software glitch in the ecm.

Thats really strange. I dont think I have ever heard of anything like that.
If you told me in person,.. I probably wouldnt believe you. Mechanic probably wont believe you at first either.

Look at the bright side, you bought a low mileage truck
Lepton1, ExOTR, WildTiger1990 and 4 others Thank this. -
My buddy is a mechanic with a rebuild shop he thought it must be an electrical glitch.I have a boat and if you leave the key on even with the motor not running it puts hours on the motor meter.I will repost in the morning and see how many miles it added overnight and if any engine hours.Crazy!! I feel relieved in a way because I thought I was losing my mind every time I went to start the truck the mileage was different than what I wrote down.

Something like a boat hr meter just runs anytime the key is on. It's not even hooked to the engine itself, just has a hot wire going to it that measures the time the ignition is on.
Most speedometers run off of a pulse ring on the trans tailshaft. It obviously isn't moving so it almost has to be in the truck computer. -
It's that ghost team driver you got circling the parking lot. He gets paid by the hub mile lol
KANSAS TRANSIT, OLDSKOOLERnWV and QuietStorm Thank this. -
hmmm....you were driving while asleep. it happens when your are over fatigued. kind of what lunatics do. please visit a doctor, because this could be dangerous, don't let it happen again.Snailexpress Thanks this.
