I have heard that other states may start requiring the DOT physical or vehicle inspections on ride sharing companies as well. In theory, we loosely fall under the same regulations as a cab or limo service.

They should operate like an escort.
All Uber has do is say that the charge is for time only, anything that happens between consenting adults is their business.Sneakerfix Thanks this. -
Just used Uber for the first time....to get home from the shop.....it was great! I take back what I said about them in the past (here today gone tomorrow). If Uber is not run in to the ground by overspending then they are clearly here to stay!
I am going to try Lyft next time... -
I might do it if I had a older vehicle capable of a little wear and tear along with doing battle.
I have no idea what it will profit for a run in this area. I will have to be absolutely a Owner Operator for this situation, not a employee etc.
One minor issue which I don't think is minor. Uber bans weapons, concealed is concealed I say.Mattflat362 Thanks this. -
I have been set up to be a Uber driver for a long time.....I just never had a smart phone or ran a passenger. Now I have a smart phone.
I talked a lot with my driver, former fed ex route driver, and he shared a lot of info!!
I got to see how the app works on both ends and it is uber simple!
I posted my destination addy (home) and within seconds my phone came back with a driver and a 11 minute ETA.
He dropped me off and his phone beeped for another pick up right up the road from me. He said it is like that all day.... -
Ohio's a decent place for Uber. Pretty good coverage, decent folks working for them. I've used them a bunch to get to airports, to go fetch rental cars and the like when I was working there.

I just paid 18.50 for a 14.5 mile ride home.
I am a former cab driver and can tell you that at 1999 cab prices, in Cleveland, that would have been like 26 to 28 bucks!Last edited: Mar 29, 2017
MachoCyclone and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Ride costs depend on locale, destination and time. Comparable or less than traditional cabs, in many cases less...
MachoCyclone and x1Heavy Thank this.
