Have Cdl Permit already can my training be completed quicker

Since you have already been driving though, depending on how long, some companies will only train you for 3-4 days then let you loose.

 

You will have school in your future. Many employers refuse to hire without a specific successful graduation from a approved trucking school.

one other thing to consider.

Take a Manual transmission tractor trailer to your final CDL road test. Many states mark your new CDL as a restriction to Autos only which will limit your hireability.

 

If he is working with a permit with no CDL previously in his life, more than likely he will spend weeks if not months in training.

 

You only have a permit? That permit really means nothing, any one can go down and get one with a couple hours studying. If you actually had a CDL that might be a different story if your trying to avoid training.

 

This is true. It's hard to understand him though, he says he already drives otr but still has a permit so i can't discern his actual situation.

 

I agree. All schools should require you to have a permit before your first day of school. Some of these schools spend the first week helping everyone get there permit. Such a waist of time. Im not sure how that would work if you chose a school out of state tho

 

That is one reason my head hurts. If it is a permit, he cannot be driving over the road past state lines I would think. It's causing me to look over regulations again. I could be wrong.

 

Backing,turning and shifting is a lot to learn.It sounds like you wasn't in training very long so if you're planning on Knight you'll probably have to start as a student like everyone else without a CDL.

 

Backing, shifting, and turning....the three essentials to driving a truck. So, what you are basically saying is you need to be taught how to drive a semi?

 

Which is why I am thinking this man needs schooling.

I suspect pride or ego must be making him say things he is not quite settled on such as the basics of trucking. Backing, docking, shifting etc.

Maybe i should stop posting for a while. Every time I think about this carefully I come up with another reason why he should be in school. The more I say go to school, the more i get back I got enough school im ready to solo. I don't think so.
