    Bored, you're too funny.

But are the benches lab quality with proper jumpers and calibrated equipment?

It doesn't matter if the canary is calibrated, the signal generator has to be too. :)

I've got one "pill" that puts out a clean KW signal from 4 watts but no one here would believe that because the expert CB techs have never seen one or believe it exists.

As usual it's doctor up the numbers... anything to get you interested and get you to spend $$$$ on their product... look how much their selling the last of the 2879 Toshiba pills that are left out here. And most of them are probably Chinese knock offs.....

Bored..Im not gettin anythin in a bunch and its got nothin to do with rabbi..Truck cb sale had a n4 up to 600 watts i think and im sure it was soundin and lookin like crap on a s analyzer..
We talked about the 2879's and the diff from the cheaper 2879 and the toshibas..You even agreed with the lil difference and extra cost..No spec sheet thats worth the paper its printed on will output more than a 100watts a piece..
I k ow you know your stuff and its possible your drinkin the big power koolaide..Besides the difference in range of 400 to 500 watts is not worth the arguement...Just hope you didnt get sucked in and spend the extra and not get it..

Nope I've got real Toshiba 2879 pills in my radio. Whatever your seeing on a tech bench is going to be less watt wise in a big truck that's mobile anyway ..think you posted awhile back that cb truck sales whoever they are has 4 Toshiba pills in a radio doing 675 watts or 575 watts whatever. If it did does that much power it's turned up and he'll sell it to you so you can burn it up in your truck......

If you want to know the true watts a radio does put it on a wavenode. If you know what a wavenode is...the actual wattage of your radio is a lot less than you think

Those transistors are most efficient when they are driven with less than 3 watts - which is about 55 watts out. This gives the cleanest signal or better put the least amount of distortion.

As for the cheap knock offs and the real thing, it is hard to tell them apart. I know some have said they can but unless you have a curve tracer (or a gas chromatograph), it is not easy to tell. I have some of the real deal here bought a long time ago right from Toshiba's direct distributor at the time and I have the knock offs that someone gave me a few years back. They are Identical except for one thing (I won't mention it). When they are tested, the results are close but there is a difference, BUT the appearance is spot on, I mean you can't tell the difference between the knock offs and the real deal. I've bought some this past month from China, one set for $7 each, another set was $23 each, the former were close but the latter were exactly like the ones I was given a few years ago, spot on. When I mean spot on, the cases are not stamped lettering but printed, the tabs are perfectly cut and trimmed.

Now there is a guy who is selling knock offs, he has his shop (I won't say who but you would know him or at least Rabbi would) who is claiming that he is selling the real deal, they are not. These are knock offs that he is buying from the same source that I got mine from and he knows it they are the knock offs. So when you get an amp or a BIG radio repaired, and that person is claiming the real deal, it may not be.

Don't ask who he is, I won't tell you.
