Drive trucks long enough and you WILL be faced with this situation. Most truckers get into this when they dont trip plan and find a low bridge. It is really simple. You make the U-turn if you have enough room to do it safely and not do any damage to truck and other objects. Otherwise your backing up until you can get turned around.

Most truckers that Drive long enough, DO trip plan! Just sayin. . . . I have never / will never be that USA Truck guy~! I've backed out of a bad situation many a' time, in my rookie / OTR days. U-turned only ONCE with assistance from the snow plow guy that had the road blocked anyway. Always remember the 6 P's. Prior Planning Prevents Pizz Poor Performance~!

that address you're going to is on the left side of the road divided by concrete curbs and pretty flower's. will you make the u turn or go around the country block to come back ?
SteveBausch Thanks this. -
You can do it!
-
Would've seen it in my Google Maps / preplan, and know to approach from the other direction.
(Then again, just me. I haven't been OTR in many years, and go to the SAME handful of places OVER and OVER... so maybe that's not a fair answer, but... I don't pull boxes, either.)Boattlebot and dca Thank this. -
It may be becuase I'm tired but when I first read that I thought you said drive ducks....G13Tomcat Thanks this.

Proper trip planning? Hahaha. That's just to much effort for most guys.G13Tomcat Thanks this.

I don't use google maps and I do trip plan with what I have. google isnt always correct.
I will make the u turn just so long as there's enough space and theres no sign posted stating no u turns. -
Huh?

When was this rule established?
I make u-turns all day long without any difficulty OR a single peep said about it whatsoever. The only reason I avoid them is the inefficiency of running the route in such a way as to require too many of them.bottomdumpin and spyder7723 Thank this. -
Don't know about the rule... guess it just depends on what you pull, and where. It's a rule according to my employer, maybe that's what he meant?!? His too?!?
