Rabbi said he has them and they produce no noise, so at 10 bucks a pop I'm not out much if they turn out to be noisy.
rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Mine is hardwired to the fuse panel.
-
Yours maybe still noisy, it all depends. Hard wired or not, the problem is some of these switching supplies is they create a lot of harmonics from ultrasonic to the edge of the upper HF range/lower VHF range. The linear supplies create heat and are better for low voltage regulation in a car than these things.

I just went outside and turned the radio on and turned the RF gain wide open and hear zero noise @ 27.185.
If noise is being generated, it must be at a frequency I don't listen to. -
Your solution is here..

You might even fix it with one of these.

Rabbi, I understand that, it may not be enough power to produce harmonics above say 10mhz, but I bet if I tested it with the equipment I have, it will be there. I have only seen a couple that are quiet and they are properly shield and had the right components.
However using a choke may not do the trick, like the LED lights, the signal will be picked up by anything that conducts. Choking it would be a time consuming lesson that may end up producing no improvement.rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
I had 2 on my gps charger then i tried two bigger ones that i wound the wire into 3 times each..No diff..I have 2 on my coax now by the ant and no diff..Tried a cpl on my power wire, guess what...............no diff

Whether or not ferrite cores help depend on a couple of things, one of which is the core material, for some types of interference Type 31 works best, for others Type 43 works better. And then...sometimes, none of 'em help. With our Flex SDR radios we've found choking the ### out of the power leads on wall-warts can be quite effective in some cases in eliminating spurs and hash that show up on the panadaptor. It's easier fixing the problem when you can see, as well as hear, the interference.
