Beg to differ on that last statement.. You put the parameters in while in truck mode and it will look at what you set and route you such.

I still use my RM road atlas often. I do not use GPS, and all I do with the technology today is look at the layout of the shipper or receiver on google maps so I can plan my approach.
Had my CDL since 99, used an atlas since day 1, and it has never let me down. Only other book to do that is the "Good Book"

 

Google maps and Google Earth, are both excellent for previewing a place you've never been to before.
