If you're familiar with my neck of the woods, you'll know that the exit from the inner loop of the Beltway to go north on I-83 is a truck killer. I remember a gas tanker wiping out right there under that bridge a few years ago. They wouldn't reopen the Beltway until after driving several loaded dump trucks across the bridge to make sure it wouldn't collapse.
Now, while not necessarily disagreeing with what you said, in light of that I wonder if that incident with that straight truck would've endangered the structural integrity of that bridge much.x1Heavy Thanks this. -

Yup. See Atlanta, Georgia and the I-85 bridge collapse...

Once or twice in my life time that particular pillar has been replaced from a couple of tankers that managed to burn it past it's ability to stand up and stay there in place under those bridges. I know exactly where you speak of. There is a ramp marked 45 that goes under NB. Unfortunately it's not 45 for trucks.

I want to know how much they had to pay the dump truck drivers to "test" the bridge

That's right up the with bringing a burning rig and parking it next to other trucks at a truck stop.TripleSix Thanks this.

The 5 dolla Crack ho that lives under it got so much action that day that the friction caused her to spontaneously combust. Its not a story you can put on the 5 o'clock news.......

You and me included. I think they were state dump trucks. You aint gonna get private owners to risk a dump truck on a bridge like that for any amount of money.
A tidbit about that area, there is one that connects 83 SB with 695 EB, that one has a early to mid 70's steel construction that was at the time revolutionary, I grew up not too far from there as a child and watched them build it back in the 70's I remember using it in trucking and it has to be at 60 or less loaded because there is a little S at the bottom threading needle to get onto 695E
Bridges are a dime a dozen but I liked that one in particular among some others. So it should be around a while.SingingWolf Thanks this.
