I'm no expert but what I can tell you is that I have a friend that worked for May and he said they really treated him fair....I spoke to a lady named Leona at may and she was the best person I have talked with from any Co.!!! I have some hurdles so I cant go there yet but They are in my top 5 if that helps.

Werner, Swift and Covenant recruit heavily at the school I will be attending. I'm hoping to get a shot at Schneider, there's a terminal in Fontana about 40-50 miles from me.. I guess I can't be too picky either, I really have to get back to work!

My experience with May was not so great.......

1.)They lied to me about a non-smoking trainer but i endured and passed my solo test after spending a week with him. I am VERY allergic to tobacco and it was MISERABLE. After I soloed out in Denver they told me my truck was in Tennesee and since my trainer was headed that way anyway, go ahead and ride with him there.

2.) They lied to me about getting a truck of my own, TWICE ! ! The truck in Tennesee was a "turn in" truck, a truck that another driver left after he quit working for them. It was completely pigged out, rotten food in it, smelled like he smoked 3 packs a day in it too. I drove it to Pensacola, FL, per request, and was told that MY truck was there. The truck there was a Freightliner lease turn in, not MY truck at all, I was told to drive that one back up to Layton, UT. and this time, my truck would be waiting for me.

3.) After getting to Layton, I finally got my own truck, drove it part way to California. I stopped to get dinner and was checking out my "new" truck and found that it didn't have a cab card (documentation for the truck, registration, IFTA card etc.). I called the dispatcher and she insisted that I "sneak" it to California. I asked who would pay the ticket if I got caught and she said that it would be on me.

It was at this point that I quit. I was lied to numerous times and had an opportunity to take a local job, so I turned my truck around, drove it back to Layton, UT and parked it. Got a flight outta Salt Lake City airport and went home.

I KNOW not all that have worked for May are treated like that. I guess my experience was pretty unique, but you asked and there it is. LOL

Well dude that is one of the things that May tells all of it's drivers in orentation is once you get assigned a truck You are suppose to check the permit book for all permits and cab card, insurance etc. that was your fault for not checking permit book in the truck before you left layton.

May did not lie to you about getting your own truck twice the way that they took your complaining about the truck was a refusal to take that truck so they kept routing you to the next avalible truck.
May has certian trucks assigned to certian terminals that is they way that they work.

Also in orentation they ask you if you smoke or not if you would consider going out with a smoker. I do not smoke and I refused to go out with anyone except a non smoker. You may have not been paying attention in orentation when they asked that and you may have agreed to go out with a smoker.

I know the terminal manager in denver and he would of not sent you out with someone that you did not agree to go out with.

Did you expect to get a brand new 387 or one of their new freightliners? I do not think so not beeing a newbie.
All companies will give you a older truck incase you tear it up by not shifting properly,or just getting in a wreck in it.

Just because you graduated truck driving school and passed the road test does that mean you are a great driver?

Heck no you will learn soimething new almost daily if you think you know everthing then you need to park the truck.
Because you will be dangerous out there driving.

I verry highly doubt that you found a local gig with having no experince.

Personally I think it was more his fault than may's I use to work for them and they did not do that to me.
I am actually thinking of going back to them since they have a terminal out in my state now and I personally know the terminal manager I talked to him a fseveral times..

I should ask him if he needs me to go out an get trucks for him.:yes2557:
He has been wanting me back I explained to him why I quit and he was not supprised I was out of the layton terminal and that is the worst one to be out of.

There was a person on here that got terminated from May because he could not pass the solo out test.

His trainer thought he was not good enough to drive a truck so they sent him packing.

Apperantly he almost hit a few things and cut people off a few times way too close almost caused a few accidents would not listen to his trainer etc.

The guy came on here gave the whole story once and then edited his post it to make him look like he did nothing wrong.
Then he only left little bits and peices of the story so I started calling him out for it and he disapeared off of here.
