I might have missed this from your earlier / other posts, but did you get hired onto the Hazmat division? the Great Pumpkin requires Hazmat for all its drivers...however they usually require you get it within x days after you are hired and driving. Im running on 350 days with no hazmat (looks around paranoid-ly).

Nope, not the HazMat division. What you said is what they told me. Have it done within so many days. I mentioned that I thought it would be hard to study for and take the test while I'm doing 10 hour days in school. So I'll do it before I get there. They asked me if I was interested in driving a tanker. I said yes. After all the dicusion about it, then they said that I have to be clean shaven in case I have to wear a mask. I asked about a moustache, they said no. I told them that I worked at a nuclear power plant for a few years, was trained with all the equipment and didn't have to shave my moustache to wear a mask. No reply.

    The mustache part surprised me????
Sure the mask part makes sense, I'm thinking the person you talked to was getting a little carried away with the letter of the rule rather than common sense

I'm at that excited/nervous stage as well. I'll be in Green Bay on the 11th (this class is starting the 12th so it will end before the holiday). Got my CDL permit on Tuesday and did hazmat fingerprinting yesterday. Also did the phone interview yesterday morning. I have a coouple documents to fax and the Dot physical/drug test to set up later in the month. A shopping trip will be neccessary soon, I need pants, been living in warm-up pants for 12 years....(not the same pair!) :)

I guess that's a no go on the tanker division for me. I've got a full beard going on and no intention on shaving it for anyone!

    YuP!
Schneider told my girlfriend the same thing,
and like DOTRA, she ain't about to shave her moustache for ANYbody. :biggrin_25512:
And I can't blame her for that.
    NopE!
    It matches her uni-brow perfectly.

Now, ....... if only she could get the hair on her head to grow.
On sunny daze, her chrome dome reflects light and can easily
blind anyone in the immediate area, and she leaves a scene of
    disaster in her wake.

Many who have experienced temporary blindness as a result relate it as a bright light that overwhelmed them, and they swear it was caused by a U.F.O.
I think the "F" stands for Flying --- but I reckon it could stand for
    "Female" too.
Anyway, ....... just in case that's the case, she's had her windows tinted in the interest of public safety.
    :sunny: :glasses1::laughing-guffaw:

That's kind of strange. I'm a fire fighter. Yes I have to be clean shaven as to have
to wear a Scott pack so to maintain a tight seal. Never was told to shave my mustache. That comes to play in our grooming standards. Even the guys who do work in Hazmat has moustache. Maybe he has his signals mixed.
Good Luck!!! Keep us posted on your progress.
