I've seen it in different posts but can anyone actually put a pen on when it's "the slow time of the year" Do companies consider the winter time slow periods? Less daylight, If so why? Well up north am guessing bad weather. And around spring time things pick up because of more day light more shippers/receivers moving more goods? lol Far as Flatbed, Dry Van, & Refeer. Do they all see this slow period? What you guys think, know someone have some to say huh![]()

Right after Christmas.....

It really depends on what you're hauling. Fuel? This is a busy time of year due to harvest. Up here produce is a little slow right now, but starts picking up again soon. Many industries see a lull in Jan./Feb., but that's not universal.

Thanks truckerjo that was quick... hahaha t
o the point i c but is it for everyone or a certain division?

Really was lending torwards flatbed.. If mostly running the south u should'nt see to much of a slow. Its a company down here name jordan carriers and my buddy told me he runs good 80% of the year and the other 20% is being stuck in nasty winter weather up north.....

I was gaging the trucking industry as a "whole" that seems to be the slowest time of the year... Not separating them into devisions.. People still need to eat.. People still need toilet paper ext... What happens, the stores generally overstocked from Christmas, They already have done the major change from Fall to winter in the stores.. So, usually late Feb, into march is when you see things picking backup for the change over to spring..

I currently drive for Jordan Carriers. I've been there for years... Even when they were the outlaw runners! Those days are long gone & have been for a few years now. Trucks are now governed between 65-70 (depends on the truck & how the previous driver took care of it).
If your looking for miles... They are the company to go to right now. I average 3000-3300 a week in this current economic slow down. When I'm empty I'm immediately re-dispatched 95% of the time.
Most of the freight runs across I-10, I-20, & I-40. Yes they do go North... Not only in the winter time. I personally haven't seen snow in 3 years.
