Aftershock, I see that we are virtually neighbors, I start trucking school on Oct 13 in Temecula. Anyway I don't want to highjack this thread.

I know where Redcoat is coming from! I lived in South Africa for 11 years in the 70's as a kid. It is very similar to England (they were under British rule until the very early 60's). I know about manners, respect and not making a spectacle of one's self. We wore uniforms to school, got caned for any and everything.
I moved to Dallas, TX in 1979 from SA and it was culture shock. If you wanted to know the time, you would holler at someone in the parking lot, "you got the time buddy?" Never dream of doing that in SA back then.
I think RC is trying to fit in so hard and not inconvenience anyone that he is neglecting his needs as a human being, I guess this comes from the stiff upper lip mentality of days gone by in England.

It's fight for what's right time for him! I just got laid off from a job after taking abuse from a surly boss for over 3 months. I went to HR and was "laid off" 2 weeks later. It was the best thing in the world, because it got me closer to my almost 30 year dream of trucking.
    Good luck!

    "Virtual" neighbor?
    Hmmmmmmmmm
    What does "virtual" mean? :smt102
    Let's see --------------------

    1. Being in essence, or in effect though not formally recognized or admitted.

    2. Being on or simulated on a computer or computer network.

Ya know, ............ now that I've read the definition of "virtual" I reckon that's virtually the best choice of a word to fit the circumstance. :yes2557:

    Small world, HuH?
    Albeit a "virtual" world.
    :Earth:
But, what amazes me most is that you're one of only a few who
actually admits they're living in California.
    Shux Howdy!
Most Big truck truck drivers don't even like to visit the Golden State. :biggrin_25512:
Just the thought of actually livin' here conjures up panic attacks for them. Especially if they don't understand Spanish. :biggrin_25523:

    By the way, ..........................................
Can you see Wolverton Mountain from your home-20?
One of our posters, (Mountain Momma) lives up there and keeps an eye on all us flatlanders.
We appreciate that she does that.
If not for her, I'm thinkin' we'd be runnin' amok. :Courier:
East, North or South --- but we're a tad limited on how far West we can run :biggrin_25525:

*AfterShock sincerely apologizes for momentarily hi-jacking Mrs. R's most excellent thread.
But he stops shy of agreeing to never do it again. :biggrin_25511:

Thanks...it takes so long to get the pay stubs. I wonder if they do that on purpose. I get my paystubs by mail, the day before the check drops, not a WEEK after...

There are some oddities in the current year to date, that I can't find in any of the checks before.

As for hard to figure out...their stubs are hard enough to try and deciper.

    THANKS! :yes2557:

    YuP!
    That's the place.

I was there in the daylight,
and that's where I learned that trailer tandems react differently
    when backing on ice.

I thought it was just me running out of talent ---
but the dock foreman informed me of the ice, and reassured me
that I wasn't the only experienced driver who had problems backin'
into their docks when the ground is icy.

Just remain calm and you will be fine. Some of my scariest pucker moments happended behind the wheel of old 8449V.I remember going up 65, heading to Chicago (from Indy) to get a load home (to Detroit). It had snowed terribly the day before, and then froze over at night when I was getting unloaded. 65 was a sheet of black ice, and since I was MT I had to run about 25-30 in the right lane. I came under an overpass and the tractor got sideways; luckily, as soon as I got out under the overpass, I got traction and the truck and trailer snapped straight (with a small steering correction). But not before I nearly soiled myself and got chewed out by the Milan Express driver who was trying to pass.

And for Ice and snow, I had to load in Eagan,MN, but the night before(again) it snowed at least a foot, and the snow was continuing. Getting up that grade on 94 (at the MN-WI line) was a scary moment, esp because there were vehicles stuck on both shoulders, and the trailer kept trying to step out and take me for a hellacious ride. Well, I made it to the shipper, but there was so much snow and ice that everytime I tried to ease into the dock, the truck would sit still. So I ended up having to GUN it and try not to hit the dock (literally). After several tries, I finally got within a foot of the dock, and the guys were fine with that.

My reward? I got to sit on 94 (in WI) when the interstate got closed for two hours (and I couldn't even make it back to that dumpy T/A, cause a Swifty got stuck on the exit ramp!)

So remember, stay calm and if in doubt, pull it over. If the customer wants their freight now, then they will want it even more when you get there later.

Soory for hijacking the thread, just couldn't help reminicising...
