Oilfield Elog Help

Look at the exceptions there are in the regulations you can use pertaining to oilfield work. If that won't help, you could always get an older truck that would be exempt from the mandate.

 

What I have been seeing is if your an O/O and your truck is older than 2002 many company's will not lease on a truck that can not comply with the E-Log mandate. I am told their are GPS driven E-Log options that will do what your old truck will not.
As far as oil field exemption goes unless your equipment is mounted to the truck you drive and you operate that equipment your not exempt. You must have 10 hours off before movement on a public highway. Your sand can is not exempt !
I also have seen a few that use multiple log in numbers to get around the 11/ 14 hour clocks.
I know of another that uses the bosses truck to load and drop trailer and his truck to drive and unload.
Guess it will work until someone either rats them out or they get caught by DOT.
Make money trucking ? I think them days are long gone.

 

I refuse to do it, but my company has pushed us to log off-duty while we wait on location. Only helps if you wait over 10, then you just got your reset. This is with frac fuel and not sand so we are always on location longer than 10 hours.

 

If you dont log off duty you willbe out of your 70 in 3days,no reason not to log off duty

 

Until you are involved in an accident and they pull your time card (we are paid hourly) and see you've been logging off duty while you were working all day on the frac. Not a risk I want to take anymore. But yes, you burn through your hours pretty quick. We typically do a 16 hour day, then a couple 14's and then they have us on locals for the rest of the week to try and keep us on legal hours. Or we just pull straight frac duty where we shuttle in pickup trucks and don't drive the fuel truck off location, so we don't log at all.

 

Sorry, in your case the wait time is really wait time. So in your case, I'd log off duty when I got there. If over 10 you got a reset. Less than 10 and you still wouldn't be out anything for going off duty. But I imagine most of the time the waits are less than 10 so it doesn't help you out.
