Jonathan "Ricco" G. is one hell-uv-a scam artist!!! He is a leasing CONtractor for Trans Am. He sub-leases 7 trucks to us newbies, ripping us off of weekly pay, then dumping us to the curb & rips the last two weeks of pay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went to school in Omaha, '07 grad. top of my class, referred to Trans Am as a good starting co.
The first mo. with them went ok, money, repairs, and miles all average. (not sub ave). My problem is I was referred to Jonathan G. a month after; pays $.50cents per mile. He does tell you that you get paid the .50 after the lease pmt. for the (250k+) 'used' truck you will drive, comes out first.
What he doesn't tell you is he squeeks on most maintenance! Then lies while ripping off the top of our pay!!!
We got NO SETTLEMENT INFO about the miles we ran, the fuel consumption, costs per mile, etc. Just a check (a week after he gets paid, if youre lucky)
Example: My first week with him, I ran 1,850 miles, but dropped it after the Thurs. deadline so this trip went into the following weeks pay that was a good week of 3,500+ miles... (um lets see, 1850+3500=5,300 mi.) MyPay=??? $1,300.!!! I had to call him and ask where/ why so low pay? His response;"one trip not on there". The following week also good #
4,000 mi.= payed $1500. "Why so low pay for hi miles I asked". He consistently smiled, laughed, joked, 'conned' me into believing there were many variables that kept it low. (The smiling face thats twisting the knife in my back was "wolf in sheep skin"). After a few months of driving with this outfit (R.J. Trucking is what he calls his pirate ship co.) the miles started to go down, also the pay...$7-800.
After he realized I was keeping close and accurate records of ALL INCLUDING FUEL CONSUMPTION (yes I kept to the required ave. per load).
He says "he will drive with each of the seven drivers and pay them every cent of the team miles". Oh what a scam, I was the first victim.(I was to become recipient of his truck while he rolled from truck to truck for supposedly giving us either a) paid $400 while the driver gets a 1 wk. vacation or b) roll with us for a week+ & pay us every penny of the team driving.
After dropping off my truck at Olathe terminal and teaming with G.,
1) he had made no effort to move his things from shelves (first flag he had no intentions of moving out of the truck)
2) after my 4,000 miles week prior, I was not paid for this!
3) we rolled 5,300 mi. during this week, on Thur.eve he buys me dinner saying how blessed he is to have me. The very next morning, Fri. (pay day) he flips out/ says "I must talk to you in a public place", and fires me for a couple of b.s. charges a) renting a room charged it to T.A.(I have statement on my cr. card, this was charged to me/not T.A.) and
b) I drove (downhill) at 80mph, endangering his life. These are the only two bogus reasons he could GET ME OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, FIRED ON PAYDAY (how convenient)!!!
A blessed friend one day, a fired idiot the next day. He put me out in the rain in Virginia! I called the cops to let them know I am being wronged, they look at his registration, say that I am not on it... I must go! I did.
Now Garcia not only pays me only $912 for the 4000 mil. week... one week following, he STOPS PAYMENT on the check, puts my acct. in negative. (he did this as soon as he sent it to my bank). Now I get an email, saying he has numerous (trumped up charges of me owing him!!! I.E.; RIPPED OFF !!!!!!!!!!)
He has done this with a couple of other drivers too. They too are suing him for bogus lies/deceit and 'stealing' our monies!!!
I called the labor commish., they say "oh you were a sub-contractor??? well we can do nothing". (another base covered by this scam artist!)
I spoke to the owner of Trans Am, he acted like "oh well".
I guess these guys can blatantly rip off newbies and get away with it huh? Yes, I admit I was naive, but can these scam artists continue to operate in broad daylight without any fear of repercussions???? Someone, please help me to get my money back and stop this sort of blatant thievery from us who work hard but get shorted by sharks...
Bottom line for NEWBIES; TRANS AM COMPANY SIDE=O.K.
TRANS AM LEASE SIDE=hi lease & most get low miles.
SUB LEASE UNDER A LEASOR LIKE JONATHAN (R.J. Trucking) DO NOT DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry about how things went. Some people have no moral's at all. They'll just use and abuse you. How were things with Transam itself? Is it a possibility you can become a company driver again. I myself am a newbie and plan on going with Trans. Be careful of those leases. bol

The first mistake was taking out a lease with no experience under you belt. It doesn't make what this guy did to you right, but the first mistake was yours.

My dealings with TransAm truck started out ok but went south quickly.
I am a lease driver with this company for a day or two longer. I gave this company a two week notice like everyone should do. Here is what i got for my efforts I asked my fleet manager if i could get a load going by the house so i could drop off some personal items so i didnt have to lug them on a bus. He said no prob. i was thinking to myself wow that is awsome well i get empty on the load i was taking to cheyenne WY i get the info over the qual com and plan was changed to relay to the yard . i called and asked why they changed it .his responce was we have other drivers here at the yard that are not quiting that need the miles. they plan to leave me sit at the yard no dispatch untill my 2 week notice is done then take there truck back and tell me to find my own way home no bus no nothing if you are anything like me that would make you just a little upset to say the least so to sum things i have run for them the last time i have been here 4 months broke 1000 bucks twice been in the hole 6 times and a few checks in the 500$ range i never turned down a single load thats the thanks you get with trans am trucking in olathe KS run from this comapny -

The Two words of Sub and Lease would have been enough to deter me away from it.

Comment to DIRTPOOR:
There are lots of companies who do what Trans Am did to you. Companies you would not expect as their employees are engineers or mba's. It seems you turn into dirt when you leave, you turn into dirt when you are fired. I've been reading of people fighting in Iraq who have been fired while defending the USA, they too have been turned into dirt. Next time, plan your exit quietly, fed-ex your luggage and be prepared to buy your own bus ticket. Perks are disappearing as fast as good jobs are. -
I drove company for TransAm. They treated me pretty good. I always heard the guys that were leasing were having problems with miles. Seems that all the new company drivers (like me) were getting all the miles. Transam was getting more and more like a driving training program.
If you have only three months experience, you can be a trainer. I left last Nov. but would definately recommend them as a starter company. Just drive for them. I averaged 2500 miles a week. -
I also worked for TransAm and do agree they are a good starter
company for if you want to drive for a month or two. After that
I would look for employment elswhere. There company is a joke.
They say they care about there drivers.... it is a lie.
