LoL... wasn't racial to me, but i guess the filter thought so. I drive Pete's, *not mine..bosses* and pull tanks, and make that AFTER taxes....but then again.....it's a small mom n pop gig and i've been driving for a bit. 6 years here, yanking asphalt tanks.

Sometimes I am not happy and think that I should be getting more money and/or have all kinds of benefits. That's the reason I am asking whether or not it's a decent job.

That's a great job. I'm just trying to be encouraging to newer drivers as the first couple of years will stink. After that some opportunities like you and I have will be available, and it will be worth it. Not ultra-rich, but can provide a great income for our families while still being home on a regular basis.

    What?

76k and you are going to pay taxes on most of it.

AND you think you deserve more?

    For what?

You can do better. The problem is you're not contributing to Social Security which may be a blessing in your old age or if you become disabled. Don't listen to anyone who says Social Security won't be around when you retire, because it will be. Politicians use the threat of losing Social Security as a club to beat each other with to garner votes on election day.
"Vote for me and keep Social Security or vote for my opponent and lose Social Security."
Unless you're a wise investor and a frugal spender, get away from those 1099 companies. You can make a 1099 company work in your favor though with proper financial planning. Join a credit union and save as much money as you can.
Move to a warmer climate; Chicago weather is horrible.

Lol $7600 per month, it's $1900 per week. With current Chicago 1099 drivers rate of 50cpm, he is doing 3800 miles every single week. On a spot market it's pretty much impossible to do it legally and be home on the weekends. The only way to fit that many miles in one week is to run a cross country dedicated drop and hook account.
Pretty much everybody plays with paper, but Chicago companies took it to a different level. I personally know people who complain when they get less than 4k miles per week. I wish that crap gets stopped somehow, but even elogs won't help that
