Just wanted to say thank you to the flatbedder that helped me out tonight.
I pulled in rest area in sweetgrass,MT to slide axles before crossing the border. Well at first the trailer wouldnt raise and then one of the airlines under the trailer blew. The connection was rusted and broke in half...i had done about everthing i could think of to doand at my wits end. We worked on the airlines for close to three hours and finally was able to bypass the busted line...its not a permanent fix, but will get me back to Shelby in the morning to the repair shop...he wouldn't take anything for his time... just do the same for the next guy...you can count on that...

When ever I see a driver with there hood open I always make a point of asking them if they need anything. I Cary a few tools with me but can usually come up with a temporary fix of some sort or at least a reasonable diagnosis. I would never take any money. I have been paid back 1000x over in my life already.

    No picture of the repair?

Did he have an appropriately sized splice or did you guys have to improvise something?

    negativecold13 Thanks this.

Sorry forgot to put the message....we had to improvise by plugging the line at the junction box with a valve stem cap and plastic bag...enough to get to a shop...well thought i had the right fittings to put the line back together but they were slightly different, so i have to stop at a repair shop in edmonton ab in the morning...will get pictures, was just so tired...got delivery made, so that was good...i have to research the exact workings of this air system...what i havent figured out is how the brakes still activate with the one line plugged..

I traced the line to the first axle brake chamber...so common sense tells me no air, shouldnt work. Then i followed the other line to the brake chamber directly across from it and found it has acrossover line connecting both chambers...only thing i can figure is if you blee one line it would feed air to the chamber from the opposite side...even though i will get the correct piece tommorrrow to fix the problem, i need to know why it works the way it works for my own piece of mind...

Heres some pictures...the first shows where the bulkhead fitting broke...the the small fitting with plastic bag packed into it, thats where we stopped the air leak..the new bulkhed fittting was too large diamter so i had to do alot of zippings....got it on, tested, everything working good....

Nice to know there are still some drivers out there who care about their fellow driver. I've helped a few people in my time, and don't understand why people would offer money? I'm helping you because I want to help, not because I'm looking for compensation.
