Ok , so if you didnt know I am curently a Limo driver with a Cdl C the question here is do the HOS also aply if im not driving a CMV that day?
We are switched in and out of differant cars, so I may do a bus move for an hr or more than I may do a couple of sedan moves, and the day might be 12-18 hrs or more.
Can anyone help me with this kind of thing?
Thanks
Cdl hos and non cdl vehicals

All compensated hours count against your 70 in 8 or 60 in 7 . It wouldn't matter if you were pumping gas or flipping burgers , the hours count as on duty , not driving . This includes driving a non-CMV vehicle .
I have a CDL-A and was a supervisor with a company pickup for an industrial cleaning company. I would move CMV's between jobs . If I exceeded 70 hours I couldn't transport CMV's but could still drive the pickup logging it as on duty , not driving .
Expedite cargo van drivers don't have to log if their vehicle isn't over 10,000 lbs. GVWR UNLESS they accept a hazmat load requiring placarding . Then they have to log and show the hours they were on duty the previous 7 days .
In your case if you have been on duty at all before driving a CMV you must take a 10 hour break before driving a CMV or the 14 hour clock will still be in effect from when you started .heyns57 and killerq123 Thank this. -
Thank you that was good help and I thought so! We are haveing the super bowl here in Tampa and the DOT has been climbing all over the Limo Co. here so thats kinda why the question came up... see the Limo Co. they think you can work 24\7 so I've been having a beef with them because Non CDL holders get paid the same as CDL holders do...now yoy make more money driving the buses because the rate is higher so your Grat. is what they think makes up for it....
Thanks again and Good explenation -
You might want to print this and show it to your employer . Note questions 11 and 14 .

Also note the definition of on duty time here . http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regu...sr/fmcsrruletext.asp?section=395.2#49CFR395.2
I figured you'd more to back you up than my opinion .killerq123 Thanks this. -

I have been trying to get into trucking Really bad but have had some setbacks with my dl... I dont understand why I can be insured by Limo co. carrying talking freight but not trucks with non talking frieght...lol
you might have some insight on that to...
I have had a dui 5yrs out it also came with a open container which was in my cooler because people leave half bottles og stuff in the limo if you know what I mean.. than I had a miss. possesion of maj.. now that is 6 yrs out.... I know I screwd up here but I mean if a Felon can get a job cant I? I dont know roadmaster said I wasnt hireable that I would have to get the Open container removed cause trucking co. look at that as 2 alcohol relaited...
youve been great with the other issue just thought you might be able to shed some light... what you think? -
I'm in Florida what are the current regulations on logbook for like dump trucks. It was if u stayed in like a 180 mile radius no logbook was required. I have revently heard if you cross state lines even in the radius you MUST have a logbook. ideas???

well gixx the situation i have here once again is that here in Tampa we are having the Super Bowl so dot has come around to all the Limo Co. to be sure everything is up to code Cause thse Hummers need Cdls mini-busses to. Thats why I was asking, Now they told us( The Limo Co. that we needed to start having log books) and we Drive Local.... Now I have a friend that drives Local big rigs and he say's he never has to do a log...
So Super Rick I like to call him has shed some light here and I feel that he's right...You are a CDL holder that means that YOU are under guidlines..You not the truck have to opporate under the 70/8 or 60/7 rule in order to prove that you must have a log book...Now I am not the expert by any means but I think if you click on those links that Super Rick put up you'll find out more -
I've never run a logbook in a dump truck.
