This might be a dumb question, I was curious when backing into the dock to load or unload, does the driver open up the trailer doors or do the shippers and recievers do it? I only ask because of the temperature control issue. I've never had anything to do with reefers so I just dont know the process. Also do they tell you ahead of time what the temp needs to be before you make your pick-up or do they tell you once you arrive? thanks..

Only a few places open the doors from inside most you will open.

Temp thing the wearhouse is already cold.

As far as temp loss once you hit the dock it's not to long before they start unloading.

The B/L will show the temp some places want you to precool but you will no before hand.

Refers are a walk in the park only problem is when you look for an empty make thr refer works as in start it up and let run if it dosen't start don't take it

I haul cold and dry in a refer it all pays just don't run out of fuel and your fine not much call for drop and hook bout 20% for me but I like it.

    I appreciate the response.
On average how long do you go between fueling the reefer? Or just top it off when you fuel? thanks..

Top it off when you fuel, that is the best way, or on a long run, every other fuel stop. Even in hot weather with a -10 load on constant run it will take more than a day or two to go though 50 gal of fuel.

I disagree with the part in red I ran into too many bad trailers that way because of lazy drivers.

If you have enough time before you have to pick up a load then take a non working reefer advise breakdown and they will tell you were to take it to be fixed.

Even if you do not have time on the load notify breakdown and your dm of the trailer numbers and locations so they can get someone out to fix them.

If eveyone would take the additude that you have there would be no working reefers anywere.

If you take a reefer that needs to be fixed it shows the company you care and are not just someone holding a steering wheel you will also be more valuable to the company as when you take the reefers in it saves them money because they will not have to pay for a service call.
