Is it OK to pull an empty trailer a couple hundred miles with the tandems slid all the way back towards the end of the trailer??.....

It depends on the bridge law in the state you are running in and whether or not a DOT cop wants to enforce it.
    Why would you want to?

I agree with him... Are they stuck or something? If not just move them to be safe is what I would do...

Be aware with the tandems all the way back your trailer is going to take more room on turns. You would be better off sliding them forwards a little. Unless the real issue is you don't know how to slide tandems.
    Its easy, just ask.

Must be nice to have trailers that have a short off track.

It's ok if it's a 48. If it's a 53, as others have said, the bridge law will get you.

Check with the state tx and ok don't have bridge law used to run from Sherman tx to Ochelata ok loaded 7000 - 33000 pounds in trailer with tandems slid all the way to the back. Never had an issue

Why not call breakdown and get it fixed? Why leave it for the next driver? I swear this me me me attitude. This is one of the things wrong with this industry now a days. And yet they expect the company to keep the equipment working as it should but the driver doesn't inform the company about needed repair and then the driver complains that the equipment is ####. So much for personal responsibility.

Dropping trailers in need of repair is one of my pet peeves. It cost me time and waiting to the #### fixed that the previous driver couldn't be bothered with. And it's a dick thing to do. If a trailer breaks down on my watch I will get fixed. The load can be swapped or rescheduled.

Are the tires rolling while trying to slide? Been my experience that it's usually the brakes are in need of looking at.
