Its a perfect job for a loner !
I come from a dysfunctional fam that I for the most part want nothing to do with other than my sis and friends .
Don't want to be totally alone and I interact with people well and love to laugh but when I've had enough of peoples dumb #### I want to be alone .
Probably why I've been divorced 3 times lol.

It depends. I think loners are better equipped to handle this kind of job. On the other hand, balance is important and a job like this can make you unbalanced. If you don't already have a social network before you get into trucking, it can be hard to develop one after you start driving.

I'm a firm believer of absense makes the heart grow fonder. If my wife and I spend too much time together, we're ready to kill each other.

Best part of the job is the solitude. Nothing ruins my day more than having to stop the truck and dealing with crabby people. Laundry day is pretty bad too as it means sitting in truck stop lounge for a couple hours listening to a bunch of garbage.

    quatto and 1278PA Thank this.

Get a folding bicycle and ride it to a laundromat or use Uber.

Last night at a customer site I ran across another driver that I used to work with a long time ago. We were shooting the breeze for about 30 minutes then we went on our merry way. It was a very strange night.

    #### skippy!!;) True happiness is an escape from the ones you love, so that you can day dream about your single days and realize it wasn't all that great when you honestly think about it. But in that dark secret recess of our thoughts, we sugar coat the truth and paint ourselves some glorious lies and chase after it. (I mean not yours truly but some other people. Yeah, that's it. Uh huh, yelp......)

Big Don and G13Tomcat Thank this.
