If you know nothing about cb's and amps you may just want to make sure you get radio setup properly and use it alone, you may be surprised at the transmit and receive range with a good antenna setup. If you are set on running an amp you probably want to find a good cb shop and let them install it, the money you spend on the install will probably be money well spent instead of the cost later on if it is all hooked up wrong and you destroy the radio, amp, and even worse the truck itself.Last edited: Apr 13, 2017

I've done just fine with a Classic 29 and a nonpowered noice cancelling mic.
If you're new at this, what made you decide you need that kind of power?QuietStorm, Blaskowitz and wolverine11 Thank this. -
Good advice a good job and good company is hard too find... frying the ECM or BURNING A TRK. TOO THE GROUND MEANS YOUR FIRED.. THE PROPER GAUGE WIRE/CABLE IS A MUST.... AND A INLINE FUSE OR BREAKER IS A MUST DOWN AT THE BATTERY ITS HOOKED TOO. !!!!!Blaskowitz and wolverine11 Thank this.

I was reading the slick promo advertisment for the 959 Flamethrower, and I know its been discussed in the past on this forum and others, Im just curious if it performs up to the hype . It looks like they basically replace or upgrade the most important components in both the receive and transmit sections of the radio, just hope for $340.00 it performs far superior than any other single final radio out there. I would like to hear from someone who has used one for a while.Blaskowitz and bored silly Thank this.

I don't believe it is worth the money, I would tell the OP to bring it back and get a 29, even an older one and have it properly aligned and spend the rest of the money to buy a good antenna and coax.bored silly and wolverine11 Thank this.

The install was done at radio shop he seem to know what he was doing . Big ground wire to frame, inline fuse , tuned fire stick , and put some gauges on it . The main reason is I can`t hear responses or what is being said + I thought a little more power would be good . The guy quit or I would go back to him .

Increase in rf power is not necessarily going to improve your receive, if he is no longer in business you may want to find another shop and have them check the antenna system and radio performance, I hope swr wasnt too high and you already damanged the radio. What kind of truck are you driving ? Are you using stock factory coax and antenna mount ?JReding Thanks this.

Do you have a different radio you can try and see if the receive is any better?
