I am new to trucking and would like to grasp the log book. What exactly has to be put in it and what are my driving limits? I want to make sure that I am following the law to avoid any issues and violations

Fill out all the boxes. 11,14, and 70 are the 3 numbers you need to know.

If you are employed your employer should have given you the FMCSA handbook . If not employed yet , it's a small green paperback available at almost every fuel stop or online from J.J. Keller . All you need to know about logbooks and HOS is in the book .

Check out the links on the sticky threads in this forumn and read the 11,14 & 70 hour information and that should get you started with questions to ask us. Meaning you need to do some reading to understand. I have it all pretty much on this forumn that you need to know and you can ignore many of them comments but you can also read them so maybe you will learn more?

Yeah I know and I miss it around here! Waiting on getting a computer (if that will ever happen) so I can get the internet at my friends house where I now live because the ex and I split up!

    I miss you all :biggrin_2553:

A Record of Duty Status (log book or RDS) is a legal document under the rules of law. Legal documents are two things under the existing laws. First a legal document must be completed in blue or black ink. Second, a legal document must be completed in it's entirety.

The simple answer is if it's on the log page it must be completed.

Football season has started, "LogsRus" has probably been spending all that spare time over at that new shiney stadium.
