Ive been seriously thinking about getting my cdl a or b. Originally I just wanted my b licence but im now starting to realize class a will probly be the better way to go.

So, I'm in the Hartford, CT area and have been looking at different schools but really don't know if their worth the money, or if i should just look for a company to hire me on as a student and train me to get my cdl.

As for the schools im looking at, they would be Baran Institute or Nettts (new england tractor trailer). Has any one had experience with these schools? I know their both around 7k to attend, but im leaning toward baran because i can get a 10% discount.

Any experiences or imput please help.

    Thanks

NETTS has been around but alot of people are complaining to many students not enough instructors. I'd check baran out and also look for a tech school, college or look for the closes SAGE SCHOOL. THEY DO 1 ON 1 INSTRUCTING. I'M current going through the TEAMSTERS TRAINING ACADEMY IN RHODE ISLAND. I chose them over NETTS,plus I'm going through unemployment WIA program. I am contemplating company vs private school, and I'm also covered under the WIA program. I'm also an AFL/CIO member (AFA) if that means anything. My Airline went under but I'm still considered a union member they tell me.
Can you tell me how the RI Teamsters school was?
    Thanks

The school was very good Our guys pass more o the first time than NETTS plus its 6-8 week course not 20 weeks like netts. Go private not company This way you an go work for whom ever you want and not stuck under a contract for 1 yr. There are advantages to going to NETTS. You will learn on 48 & 53 fts trailers and companies recruit from that them If you want to go Over the road look into superior carriers out of Springfield ,Ma They will hire a newbie but only if you went through NETTS. You need to have a good work history. They looking for people who want a career not a job. If you go under the Teamsters thread you will find my thread about my experience from star to finish at the Teamsters school. Best of Luck, keep me posted Thanks
