The girlfriend is a driver. There's a few trucks she runs regularly, one is a 99 international, triaxle dump truck. n14 Cummins, 13 speed. Range switch and splitter on the side like normal. What's messing me up is she says it's got a high Lo gear.

    R-1-3
    L-2-4
    ------
    R-5-7
    H-6-8

And obviously 5 thru 8 are split hi/Lo. I watched her shift it a few times and it confused the heck outta me, because she claimed to start in high range but put it where Lo gear is. If anybody's got ideas I'm dying to know. I got a video somewhere if needed.

The 13/18 speed transmission has two rangers, one lower and one upper.

On top of that 13/18 speed has a little button on the left side of the shifter to allow it to be split into half gears, so the lower range of gears on the 13 you can't use the button as you can on the 18 speed but on the top range you can, so it is actually 1,2,3,4 in the lower and then 5, 5 1/2, 6, 6 1/2, 7, 71/2, and 8, 81/2.

Yes that's 12 gears, but the low gear in the low range is only in the low range and is the 13th gear.

Right, I know that, I've got a fairly good handle on how most transmissions work (10, super10, 13, 14, 15, 18 etc) but when she takes off, she puts it in high range, but has the stick all the way left, and back: where Lo gear should be. I've never heard of that being available before.

Pardon her language first of all...but in about the first 15-20 seconds you can see her shifting what looks like Lo thru 4th, but it's in high range.

OK I was told I'm wrong, which is ok, because every 13 sp I drove I could not use the high range low but apparently I gotten so used to this I never knew I could with my own trucks, thanks to my driver calling me and tell me I'm wrong.

By the way I have a hearing issue here, where is she from?

No kidding. I learned something new today too then. So it's like a easy 14 speed I guess. We're both from Ontario Canada

Use to haul Magnetite into the coal mines. Truck was Triaxle with a 13 spd, get near the top of the mountain and leave it in HI and pull it over into the LO hole "in HI" just to keep from splitting back into the LO side. Not for long pulls but just to help get over the top. Obviously her truck is geared low?

Hi, I'm the girlfriend. I tried to explain to him that the truck was geared super low and that I only use the bottom box when I'm loaded and then I usually start in second. First and low low is basically turtle speed, and I can walk faster then the low low. Thanks for helping him figure it out.
