Your going to see a lot of CO, reduce their fleet, because of the way the economy is.. They were saying in the news that were going to be looking at $7gal for gas in a couple of yrs..

I know this is an old post but if the company has 9,000 trucks and they are reducing to 500 total wouldnt that essentially mean they are out of business with that much reduction. It hasnt come to that but they are slowing the hiring and taking longer to get people into trucks, I think though the industry has a whole has been hit very hard with everything the way it is. My stepfather has one of those gravy LTL union jobs and they have laid off some people company wide and still may lay off more so its definatly not just Werner.

They are reducing the fleet by 500 trucks not down to 500 trucks.

yeah, Springfield has about 100 trucks parked around it right now, and i would wager a guess that only about 30-40 are there for service at an given time (unfortunately for me, i'm due for service soon, lol). things are slow now. they will return, but we will be a few carriers lighter, and i think it will benefit us all in the long run.

I went down Donner pass with my boyfriend at 2am...I wasn't even driving and it scared the crap out of me. He knew what he was doing though. He's been driving with Werner for 13 years.

I was very surprised when I was red tagged at the Fontana Werner terminal for excessive treadwear. They have lower tolerance than DOT by 2/32 (1/16) on each wheel.
