Depends on the weight.
If the short truck grosses out over 26,000 the CDL A is required with air brakes and a combination vehicle. If just one vehicle and no towing the CDL B is acceptable.
If the truck was a smaller expediter truck it would be less requirements. A CDL B would be okay.panhandlepat Thanks this. -

Check with your state for CDL testing locations . In some states there are companies that have rental trucks available at the testing sites . Rent similar sized Penske or Ryder trucks ahead of time for practice . Anyone anticipating getting a CDL should do it soon . FMCSA has proposed mandatory training requirements . I have seen posts stating this will be in effect next year but have seen nothing to substantiate when it would go in effect . The last news I have seen on it from FMCSA was they were still taking comments on the proposal .

I went to a school in Tampa, Florida. They had a yellow sign out on Adamo Rd by SR301. If all you wanted was State testing you could do that either in your truck or theirs. The cost was $250. You just don't get a school certificate. Which I have found is very necessary unless you are an o/o.

How do you go about getting a Class C ?

That info on having a truck available for testing is useful . If you brought a truck you would need a CDL driver with you . -

Like a company that delivers welding gas cylinders out of a small truck, or even home delivered oxygen from a van. -
Rick G what are the mandatory training requirements?
