Should I keep track of my own miles?

Hello, I am a new CDL holder and just started with a small carrier. In our trucks we use electronic logs to keep track of our information. Should I also keep track of the same information for my own records? For example, with a free app or something? Would it pose a problem if my employer has all the electronic records and I went to apply at a different carrier, I wouldn't have anything to show the potential employer. I guess I'm just confused since as a private pilot, we keep sole control of our logbook and it goes with us where ever we go. Thank you for your time.

If you are doing e-logs you can email your completed pages to yourself. You will need them anyway to justify your IRS M&I deduction. Our e-logs only have old pages available for the last 6 months, so don't wait too long.
