Hey there, I recently got offered the position on the dedicated coca-cola account out of Waco, Tx (I live in Temple,Tx) and I was wondering if anyone had any information on that, as far as what I can expect?
I have 11 months of driving experience, both T/T and bobtail work, all local. But according to my recruiter, I'm qualified for the 4 day orientation, then I'm issued a truck. While that does sound good, I've never done anything other than local so I guess I'd be learning things on the fly.
What about:
Miles?
Equipment?
Wait times to get loaded or unloaded?
Common area traveled?
Consistent weekly home time?
It's between the SNI dedicated coca-coal account and McElroy regional flatbed. Regarding pay, SNI coke gig starts at .32 CPM with a supposed average of 2000-2200. McElroy is .48 cpm and I'm not sure on the average. I know at MTL I could run 1800 miles and make slightly more, than I'd make running the high end of the miles spectrum on the SNI account.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

.32 per mile for someone who has almost a year of experience is to cheap. But only you can decide if it meets your hometime and income needs. My .02 worth.

My guess is, with a cpm that low on a dedicated account, that there is accessorial pay involved like stop pay, ECT.

Correct. According to my recruiter there is.

Forgive my ignorance, I've been local my whole career myself. Is this a regional job? How much area would you be covering?
TheyCallMeDave Thanks this. -
The SNI deal would be mostly TX with some OK and Louisiana runs.
McElroy is regional, southern states "supposedly" home every weekend for a 34.JReding Thanks this. -
Is that something you're prepared to do after being local? If it is, and you take it, best of luck to you.
TheyCallMeDave Thanks this. -
Well I'd prefer local but since I'm just shy of a year of experience, I've only been able to get on with landscaping, and construction outfits. Which usually means POS equipment, sketchy bosses and inconsistent hours due to weather. So unfortunately, it's something I'm just going to have to do at this point to fulfill my desire for a successful driving career. Either way, thank you sir.

I talked to quite a few coke drivers when I was out of Dallas OC. You'll make around 850/week, after shorthaul incentives. You'll be home every weekend for at least your 34, occasionally a 48. Normally home on Saturday, leave out around 200am on Monday morning. You'll only really be running Coca-Cola products from now till September, then you'll be helping out the other dedicated divisions.

Hey thanks for the insight there. I'd happily take 850 a week at this point, and if that was regular that'd be great. However I was a bit apprehensive when my recruiter asked what I "needed" to get by in terms of my weekly earnings. When I told her I need AT LEAST 600 a week to survive, she said "hmm, ok that should be doable" she seemed a bit hesitant, at least that's the impression I got. I originally applied for regional, but she suggested I take the dedicated coke account since one of my main concerns was home time. I've also searched around on the net, and really haven't found many threads regarding this particular account, so I'm a bit "up in the air on it" becasue a slow week at .32 cpm could leave me hurting on payday.
