I'm glad you hopped on again.
The shop in Holland next to pilot was ok when I went there. There is another in GR called diesel 911 I think, small place but good ppl . Those are the only two in West MI that I have experience with.
Unless you live where I do, then I go to Traditions.

This is what I was refering to. You used the word "control" in the context of ELOGS.

"Let's start with an easy one; ELD's will NOT make roads safer, but instead will make roads more unsafe."

I fail to see any merit in this statement. There has been no proof one way or another that ELD's make Trucking safer or less. It does however keep Drivers and Companies more in line to the Laws. True, they can be edited in the Office in anyway and a lot even by the Driver themselves but, there is a trail then too.

However, if you prefer Paper over Electronic Logs, then that is your preference. As for me, I skip any Company that says it's a good old fashioned Paper Logs Company. That just tells me they will run you ragged and illegal as heck.

I did use the word "control" and I will try and make my point more clear. I mean "control" in the respect of controlling a driver in a way as to cause him/her to focus on his logging device more than he/she would if they were using paper, or an app, which is what I prefer.

As for my statement on the roads being unsafe, I state that from experience. Here is what I mean; When I use my phone app. to do my logs, I "do and than log", when I used Elogs, I have to "log than do". I don't remember having too many problems when I used Quailcomm but this new Elog device I am using causes me to pay attention to it more, meaning; if I use the GPS and an HOS dialogue box pops up, it kills my GPS I have to hit two tabs in order to get my GPS back. Now this is just one example but there are more and the more times I have to mess with that ELog device while going down the road, is more time I have to take my eyes off the road. That is just the GPS part of the device. As far as logs go; my unit looses connection with the VLU (vehicle location unit) at times while going down the road. When it regains connection, it has to reload all my log data, all while going down the road. The bottom line here is that ELogs cause more attention to them than paper or an App. That attention a driver pays, is what causes me to make my statement about being more unsafe. Every time that stupid thing peeps, can't turn off all sound, it causes you to look at it. Every time a dialogue box pops up, it causes you to look at it. My paper sitting over in the pass seat doesn't do anything to me, my App either. Now for the record, NOT ALL HUMAN's ARE ALIKE.
