I'd do the Schneider dedicated account.
McElroy is ok if you don't mind securing loads in all weather, such as chaining, tarping, strapping etc. You're home on weekends, but how much money can you make if you're sitting at the house every weekend? With McElroy you still have to go somewhere to get the load, then spend time securing it before hitting the road. With Schneider it's just a matter of drop and hook.
Mainly decide if you want dry van or flatbed. Just choose one and stick with your decision for 6 months, then re-evaluate and decide if you want something else.
Dedicated?

I hear ya China. The SNI dedicated account will get me home on the weekend as well. That was one of my main concerns as I want to be able to see my infant and wife atleast for my 34. On one hand I prefer flatbed, because I have experience doing it. Not necessarily what McElroy hauls, but I've hauled limestone boulders, concrete pavers, different types of dimensional patio stone and sod. But for those gigs I never had to wait. I showed up at the stone quarrys, or grass farm, got loaded relatively quickly and hit the road.
I never waited to be unloaded either because I delivered all products myself to customers, and I'd off load with a Moffett lift. So I'm familiar with flatbedding, and I'm certainly not against getting out of the cab for some labor to do so. However, I've been made aware by some other drivers that I better get used to waiting if I'm going to flatbed for someone like McElroy. Apparently it's not uncommon to sit for several hours to get loaded or unloaded. That's something I'd have to get used to. If I'd have more of a steady pace with less waiting runniny dry van for Schneider, then that's definitely a selling point in their defense. Not to mention SNI can get me in orientation next Monday on the 24th, where as McElroy can't get me in until May 1st. Your opinion is appreciated as always sir.

I think there's a Walmart DC in Temple... I thought Schneider had that account, I don't know...
pays pretty good in some states...TheyCallMeDave and SingingWolf Thank this. -
Correct. There is a Walmart DC a few miles from me out in the industrial park. Not sure about SNI having that account, but it wouldn't suprise me. -
ExOTR Thanks this.

Get those endorsements. TTR has practice tests and the tests themselves are easy. There's no reason not to have them as well as Tanker since if you ever have to haul totes, you'd need it anyway.
gentleroger, motocross25 and TheyCallMeDave Thank this. -
