I've screwed up my share and took a razzing for it
If no one else would, I'd bich slap myself.
    Guess I have thicker skin
As for the megas, they've been screwing up the industry for a long time.
If a monkey could sign his name, they'd train it to drive in two weeks.
Then they could pay it bananas and haul frieght for far less than a decent owner can that actually wants to pay his experienced drivers that have earned their stripes.
I've been doing this since '78
    I've seen the evolution
I have 0 respect for megas and very little for those willing to eat their bananas
I'll quit trucking and live under a bridge before I'll drive for a mega.
    But you do you.

6 posts now for you. How long do you think you will last here, adding nothing positive to any conversation?

how have ''mega'' been screwing up the industry?
By hauling freight, employing people and being profitable?
Free market capitalism, boss. Love it or leave it.
As for those ''willing to eat their bananas'',my hats of to them. Working to support one's self and one's family beats living under a bridge, or living off welfare, but that's just my opinion.
    Like you said,you do you.

Before the mega, we made a decent living. Since deregulation, and the advent of the mega carriers, our real earnings have taken a nosedive. They have done what they can to prevent minimum training standards. They use economies of scale for make the playing field unlevel, then in the name of safety, try to even the playing field in the area that independents and small carriers have an advantage.

If I have left some out, please feel free to add your own opinions.

They barely train them then pay them poverty wages for a year which means they can haul freight cheaper than a company that cares about their drivers and families.
Most of these so called trainees don't last six months
    The megas don't care
Plenty of fresh meat waiting in line.
And all the rookie wrecks these barely trained monkeys make, makes everything harder for everyone else through new safety regulations.
    It's called principle
As the song says, don't be a fool son, what about the long run.

Pay to go to a CDL school
Loan out if you have to
Then find a 1099 to get some experience
Then move on to something better.
There are other options besides signing up to become part of the problem
    Nuff a dis
    I'm otta here.

    Simple
    Check the turnover rate
How many go through orientation in a year and how many drivers does the company have.
If you need stats, go find em yourself and prove me wrong.
