Please don't take offense, but I see you have been driving a while... why would you go from one big driver mill company to another and another? Take your experience and get on with a good smaller company. I know from what I read here that none are perfect, but you need to determine what it is YOU need to be satisfied, and then start asking questions and finding the company to give you want you want and need... other advice I have seen here is "don't talk to recruiters first... talk to the people in safety and then drivers".

well folks here we are again....i have now graduated from 400-500 mile runs to a run that is 800+ miles and will take me ***3*** days to del.... i wonder if and when i get a real driving job i will be able to handle 2000+ miles per week????
"red bull" here i come!!!!!!!!!
i have looked into some smaller outfits and i have to see what happens, also i am looking into 1 that is lease/owner op. i don't know much about that, so to me thats shakey ground considering some of the posts i've read here.........
right now i'm totally absorbed in this run, might not have enought time to complete it............yeah, off to the nut house i go!!!!!!!!!!
but there are lots of miles here at --COVENANT-- for the trainers and trainees and the brown nosers, everything they say in their adds is marketing room bull #### made up by some starbucks coffee drinking yuppies that know about trucking like i know about brain surgery!
either way folks, nothing will change in this industry untill we the drivers stand up and say-----ENOUGH!!!---.
okay, enough for now, i need my rest to finish my last 200 miles before it tears me a new one!!!
best wishes to all the drivers--be safe---be well......... -
I approached a couple Covenant drivers to ask about their job satisfaction with the company... neither of them spoke English. Seriously. That did it for me... lol
MCR6468 Thanks this. -
they get 10 g's for every driver that stays here after 90 days, english is not necessary here or at swift.
the question is can you drive without hitting/killing someone. they have their priorities
on cash........the more for them the better.
well i gotta go do these 200 miles......., what a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!
be well-- be safe! -
hi folks, here again in Atlanta. got a load that can be dropped at the yard, but.....
as usual, they like to see you sit, then b***ch at you for idleing. sit,sit,sit---good doggie!
so i got once again pulled from a 450 mile load to sit here on an extensive line waiting to unload. and yet they are packing them in at orienation, all the drivers that have taken the hook from the recruter and brought to the #### buffet.
when i picked this load up there were drivers from other companies that were there on line upto 6 days...........oy!
the worst part of it is they really do a good job of avoiding the qualcom, they know if you are experienced..you know that the crock of crappola they handed to you, unlike the "newbies" that eat it and go yummmmm!!! sorry Covenant i have eaten from the
#### buffet, and i am full..........
on a lighter note, i called a head hunter....already knows about Covenants reputation.
i hope he can get me into a better outfit.......but the economy and the current news
looks like hard times ahead............
best wishes to all......and be safe! -
HOEKSTRA HENDERSON OR MCleod. SHARKEY makes a great offer but when push comes to shove 95% of what they say is BS. I speak from experience.
MCR6468 Thanks this. -
wel folks i haven't written in a while here, but have put my 2 cents worth in other related threads.
here at COVENANT it's the same ole thing, has not gotten better....
now they are happy to throw lies at you and expect you to eat it like a dummy!
after 7 years of cdl A and about 13 of class B i have heard and seen some of the best crap spread out by better companies, like the first one i ever worked for "greyhound". back then they were slavers and liers to the max.
so the lie here is that i had a preplan set to p/u in chicago, take it to Mn, and go from there...400+ miles, not too bad.
then i am taken off the preplan and given one that the p/u is at night before my d.o.t 10 are over, i inform them of this and hear nothing, so being that i am fed up with there crap, i call in to the logs dept and inform them of this and now i am cleared to p/u after my 10, no need to kill yourself or someone else for a piddly run that del's in two and one half days and is 600+ miles......
but the clincher is i am told that i have to do it because it is a haz-mat load, and i am the only one in the chicago area to take it, first off that is a bunch of hooey!!
the only one there or nearby that can do a haz load? go fool someone else!
well, i show up at 2 am and see the trl is not placarded...i ask 2x about this and there never was a haz-load, i quess they had someone else that needed the first one for miles or whatever, but to lie is a real #### deal.
so here i sit again on a 600 mile load that dels in 2.5 days.....we work harder to make the $$$ because it's so #### hard to get the miles out of these analy retarded goats.
well thats the rant for the day, and like in all my other posts.... if you can and are willing to belly upto the buffet and eat all there crap, this is your place to be....
best wishes to all the drivers...........

MCR, can you get onto a regional board? Back in my Covenant days, I ran on the midwest board, and I got decent miles (between 2400-3500/wk). Granted, you will be running like a raped ape, and despite the miles, they will find someway to still only pay you $400/wk, but it is a lot better than sitting. Just a thought, good luck and hang in there! I have been off the road for a year now, and have been running into the 'recertification' issue as well.
Have you tried watkins shepard? They do hire students, they might be able to do something for you. -
hi wallbanger!
well i tried the ded route, but i got a service failure for being honest, so that took me out for a year. i'm going to get my girlfriend her cdl, and train her myself here then let her get 6 mos in and find a place to run team next year.
they give me loads that are borderline retarded......either 400 mile rush or 600 mile stroll and squat.
either way, by next year i will leave these turkeys.... thanks for the info, i will look into it...
mcr&deb. -
No problem- I know the punished for honesty thing; it almost lost me that regional gig. Good luck at Covenant, hang in there...
MCR6468 Thanks this.
