You want to know the real reason why most guys in food service are in there 40's? Its because those guys have a family so they say f my life and sacrafice it for them.

Guys in their 20s split because trust me, yes you can make 100k but literally any other way of making 100k is easier than doing food service so these guys split. Young guys dont have mouths to feed so they realize its not worth it.

-coming from a guy in my 30s who is currently and have spent half a decade in food service.

For what its worth good luck

If you go out with another guy at first and he's loading the two wheelers for you too run, just after you huff it back up the stairs from the basement after bouncing 8 boxes of Coke down them, and you find a wheeler full of flour stacked flat to the top, you'll know he's trying to kill you.

Ok, back when i was doing food service, I would always pack up the wheelers for the new trainees and I never really packed them high or hard cuz I knew they were new and I was new once too.

doesn't matter. they still think you are trying to kill them.

Just takes time to get into "food" shape. And learn the techniques for working a wheeler.

I help out at my church where we distribute food and it comes on a truck (couple pallets, no big deal), so I usually stack up the wheelers for the 20 year olds to run in. They don't like me much. I have to tell them I'm twice as old as them and I would pack it much higher and heavier if I thought they could handle it.

I did two years in NYC with Sysco
One day I came out of the restaurant to see my 16ft aluminum ramp gone and 4 guys running up the street with it.
It was a bich dragging that thing back.

two and a half day orientation and classroom training, finally im ready to go...
from being excited to being little disappointed now, because during interview they have told me i will be trained on 1 day routes for 60-90 days, no point to keep me overnite on the road.
well, they set my schedule totally opposite what they told me.
mentally im not ready plus they only give me less than 10 hours in advance i have to pack and go.

Mike2633 and Rusty Trawler Thank this.

i understand you wont have a fixed time you will be off from work, but i was told i will be home everyday when i finished my routes,
now i have to rest in a hotel, rather than home. this makes a big difference.

    Rusty Trawler Thanks this.

I'm not even on extra board yet, just started training, I think it might be little better being on extra board, you can pick your routes:)
