I've been a trainer with werner on the dollar general account for 12+ years. Last year I made $103,000. Results not guaranteed. A person needs to be hard working, motivated and have a good relationship with fleet managers. I go home every weekend by the way.

actually 8 months divided by 12 months in a year works out to be .666666666666667 years lol.
i would believe it too. they do not properly vet trainers. after a minimal experience you say you want to be a trainer. DONE. i was with a trainer for 6 weeks only did like 10-15 backings, i cant tell you how many times he did the backing just because he didnt want to deal with teaching me. after i was past curfew he tried running me overnight, not at night but overnight like 9p-8a. i told him before he even tried to run me those hours that i would have a problem sleeping during the day.he did it anyways, i almost fell asleep the first night he had me doing it.the next day i told him that i wont do it anymore for safety sake. he tried to get me off the truck. i called the FM and he forced the trainer to change driving shifts. i felt like he was just trying to run more miles on my back. he didnt want to teach me. running as a team as a student sucks. you get little sleep. they tested me out and i passed but i feel i need more and better training. im switching companies to one that does not run as a team. i found a company, a smaller company that does just that. you dont learn much from a trainer that is sleeping you are teaching yourself. he is just running more miles off your back and making bookoo bucks doing it.
personally if this is the way werner trains i would not be comfortable placing my life in the hands of an inexperienced driver while the trainer sleeps -

LOL I see a lot of people complaining about who's training but I don't see anyone volunteering to do the job in their place.

My bad. -
I left Werner and went back to foodservice delivery where I can actually make a fine living and know what I have coming in each week. Yes it is labor intensive but then I've never been a lazy slouch and don't mind it. I lost my ### with empty promises and constant micromanagement along with the ever constant annoying repetitive msgs over Qualcomm about the company store, canned safety messages , etc etc. . I did work with some great people though and always had a truck if mine broke down. Of course the bad experiences which I care not to discuss at this time outweighed the good. $103,000 a year as a trainer?? Yeah right. I see maybe 80,000 if that and that is stretching it after talking with other trainers with that company.
crb Thanks this.
