Is having a forum to share ideas, concerns, or even news about the Walmart Private Fleet a good thing? Yes.

Should this forum be turned into a "Cliffs Notes" shortcut on how to beat the system and get hired on to a great trucking job here at Walmart? Never!

I have lost several friendships with drivers I worked with at my previous job with UPS Freight because I would not reveal the "secret sauce" to get hired on here. What I mean by this is that I have never been willing to reveal information about the interview process, what will be expected during the pre trip test, what route the road test will take, etc., etc. A driver must be able to do these steps without any such assistance, otherwise they are not qualified to be here. I am more than happy to offer guidance that is helpful, but never compromises the process. I have long appreciated things I had to work for much more than any which were just handed to me.

I do not wish to look at fellow Walmart drivers and question whether they belong here, but with information being giving out that can make it easier for unqualified drivers to find their way into the fleet, it will only make things worse for all of us in the future. Hence, we are now seeing the real possibility of things such as driver facing cameras going into trucks within the fleet. If I wanted the Private Fleet to be like Swift, I would go work there!

Going back to the friendships I lost as described above. The answer I had given to my former friends was quite simple. "Would you want a surgeon who performs a life threatening operation on you know the answers to the problem, or someone who was given the answers?!" I choose the former. Driving a truck may not be brain surgery, but it can sure as heck kill people a whole lot faster! The Private Fleet is not the place to be experimenting with unqualified drivers!!!

Anyone who thinks things on this forum have turned nasty needs to read the whole story and not just the headlines. Maybe then it will be more clear as to who and/or what the problem really is.

 

Hey everybody. New to this thread. I applied back in December and never got a call so I figured I didn't make the cut. Well Wednesday last week I get a call I did make the cut. I was really excited. Later that afternoon I had the phone interview. Yesterday I got the call to schedule my road test May 1st but I have a court date that day so she's told me to expect it to be done May 8th. I'm so pumped!!!!!

It was nice to come in to work this morning and get a truck assignment for my entire work week. The two previous weeks I drove three different trucks each week.
