I work for Roehl in the 7/7program. I was launching out one trip and truck had cab facing camera. I refused to drive that truck and after a discussion with mgt, I was put in a truck without a camera, but I had to stand firm on my conviction not to accept a truck with a camera. I have no accidents or bad habits for them to review, just available truck rotation.

I can see the sense (if any) in forward facing cameras. But, driver facing cameras seem to be an invasion of privacy.

So, basically..it seems as if it is really a toss up on whether or not you will end up with a truck with a driver facing camera in it or not, but it sure is seeming like they are trying to give the trucks with the cameras to the newbies. Some seem to get stuck with them, while others are refusing them or just ending up getting into a truck without one.

Anyone else - let us know. Would be interesting to see in which direction Roehl goes with the driver facing cameras..

I have "heard" that there is a cost involved so it is not like that are installed in every truck there would be only two ways to end up with one.
A: You have had safety concerns of some nature or incidents
B: not removed from the previous driver the truck was assigned to because there is a cost involved and it doesn't make sense.

This would make perfect sense to me because I have seen a bunch of their trucks while at Marshfield and did not see any with cameras.
    Just my thoughts

Just got assigned a different truck. Has a driver facing camera. Should be noted they also have microphones that record audio. Asked if I could have it removed and was told 100% of the fleet will have cameras and mics in the trucks before long. They are keeping their agreement with the company smartdrive. Also, look up the smartdrive 3 PDF file online. They do a hell of a lot more then turn on for hard brakes and turns. Everything sets them off. It even detects speed, stop lights, stop signs, g force, motion for what your doing (ie phone or food/drink) and lots lots more.

So, now Roehl not only will eventually have ALL trucks equipped with driver facing cameras aimed right at the driver which can be monitored LIVE, but also audio equipped microphones which, if I am not mistaken, will do just as they are described as: record voice. That means no swearing or cussing certainly either.

This is getting out of hand now. Driver facing cameras is one thing. That is bad enough. But now audio as well?
