I'm a driver of 11 years, and have been considering pulling the trigger on trying to get on with Maverick. I apologize if this post is redundant but I for the life of me couldn't find a clear (or current) answer. What is Maverick's hiring policy on experienced drivers with no flatbed experience? Is it just the securement course? Also if so, how long is said course? I live within 30 miles of their Madison, IL yard, is all training handled in Little Rock? Thanks in advance to any and all replies!

I can't believe that things could have changed much since I was there. At that time they would put you through a securement training course of 3 days, if memory serves. And you could train longer if you felt you needed it. I think they also had you go out for a week with a trainer for real world experience. That may have been optional though. Not positive. They're not a bad company to work for.

Best to give them a call and hear it from the horses mouth though. Call is free.

I have 2 years experience, clean MVR, 1 year flatbed and less than 6 months OTR....3 weeks out with a trainer. That's what they told me and I was shocked.

Thanks for the reply. That wouldn't be bad at all. I definitely want to be trained right. Think I'll give them a call Monday. I just wanted to ask on here first. I know sometimes if you give a carrier a call, it's like a shark with blood in the water and they're blowing up your inbox and phone. Thanks again for the response. Have a good weekend.

To the best of my knowledge you will go to Maverick and do some basic orientation (paperwork), then get securement training. They'll likely put you in with an incoming class and you'll get it all that way. After a few days (4?) of hands on and classroom you will likely get your own truck. Call and ask! If you have the skills they move you through quickly. Good luck!

I came to Maverick with ten years and no flatbed experience. I went to orientation and then securement class, lasted 11 days combined and then was issued my own truck.

My entire experience coming to Maverick as an experienced OTR driver is outlined on my YouTube channel.

Thanks for the reply @TexasMike most of my experience has been local, and my previous OTR experience has been over 3 years ago so it doesn't count. Looks like I may hafta go in under the student program.
