Well how is it the pole worked(not the greatest)before and now its not gonna..Dont understand..Everything is all hooked up basically the same..Only diff really is that i moved the coil over fron an extention comming off the pole to being directly on the pole..Still gonna attach coax to ant stud the same way..

Because before, the pole was just a pole, the antenna was mounted (and fed) way up on it, and insulated from it.
Now, as you explained in the video, the pole will in essence be the shaft on the antenna - i.e. a part of it.Dirtymartini15x and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
Dont worry about tuning it from what everyone is saying the swr isnt important anymore, guess all these companies that produce swr meters should cease production immediately.bored silly Thanks this.
-
SWR will always be important for your equipment to function as intended, however to radiate your signal effectively you need to get your antenna tuned to resonance. Which means finding the spot with the closest ohm vs reactance readings. Sometimes this reading is at a higher SWR than what we all would consider nominal.bored silly, rabbiporkchop and wolverine11 Thank this.
-
So if you get your antenna tuned to resonance and your swr is 2.4 to 1 you are going to lose 17% of rf power according to the swr power loss % chart.bored silly Thanks this.
-
Technically yes, but I've never had a swr higher than 1.6:1 at resonance.rabbiporkchop and wolverine11 Thank this.

Ok so in the real world my hypothetical example would probably not happen.
-
Not unless its a poorly designed antenna or you are using an antenna on a band it wasnt designed for.
My browning br-78 on my big truck is resonant on channel 19 with an swr of 1.5:1. I get out great and have no problem talking 30 plus miles if the channel is quiet on the receivers end.slim6596, Ougigoug, rabbiporkchop and 1 other person Thank this. -
Thanks for clarifying.

Ground and feed Point must be separated at all times from each other yet be close to each other.
DC resistance should be infinite between ground and feed point.
Don't forget this....
Meteorgray Thanks this.
